Kabam: Donate all Proceeds from July 4th to Social Justice and COVID Efforts

In solidarity with movements around the world to bring social justice change and given the unprecedented global coronavirus pandemic, I think Kabam should donate all revenue from July 4th to organizations actively engaged in addressing these issues. If anyone can tag people in the Kabam organization or bring attention to this, that would be great. It would be a win win for the players, people around the world, and Kabam as a corporation.

I'm all for charity and donating what one can, but you have to realize what a ridiculous request this is....right?

Yeah that's not gonna happen. July 4th is one of their biggest sales day and they'd lose so much revenue if they did that.

I hear you all, BUT, number one rule of sales is don’t negotiate against yourself. They might not do all of the proceeds, but they could give some. That would be a win. I would love to see them donate it all.

But why all that money? That money could go into better tech or servers.

I mean, tech and servers are great, but saving lives and being part of meaningful social change is even better. They probably have enough money to do both.

You also gotta understand that they don't need to react in a certain way due to the issues going on. It would be cool and a surprise, buily it is also something they don't need to do and for all we know, they may have other ways they are going about to show support if they decided to.

Totally agree with this. As a business that has been relatively unaffected by the global pandemic, it would be good to see them give some back to help the ensuing economic collapse. It would also be amazing to see them step in to financially assist in the social justice campaigns, however I fear that may be too political a step for them. It would certainly give me an incentive to drop some odins. If they did what you’re lobbying for though. If they don’t, maybe I’ll just donate directly to charities, and not bother spending in game this July 4th...

I'm not negotiating against myself for one, I don't want Kabam to donate their revenue from July 4th. Realistically speaking, they make the majority of their profits from July 4th, Cyber Monday, and the Gifting Event and they need that revenue to keep the game going. Going by the amount of trashy deals they've been putting out, I can't imagine they've sold a lot.

This is true, but why not be a corporation that gives back to the community? I don’t see why the idea is so far fetched. They will actually probably generate more sales and interest on July 4th if people know they’re purchases are going to help support different causes. They can still make money and they can contribute to the well being of their players/world. Seems good to me. Imagine the headlines and the amount of new players that would download the game and eventually spend money?

Who is going to back you in this idea. I’ve only seen one person so far who likes it.

Hopefully you will! LOL! But really, the post is only like ten minutes old. It’s a good idea and I think people will see it as such. Why do you care whether Kabam spends its money on things that could be positive for the community? If anything, it helps you.

This is a terrible idea. Any money I invest in the game is because I enjoy the game and want it to keep being a good game. I don't want a corporation investing in causes instead of making the game better for the community. I will choose what issues I want to donate to and support. I don't want someone else deciding it for me. I may not agree with the organizations or causes they choose. That's why it's always best to do your own research and donate to causes and organizations that you agree with instead of letting someone else decide for you.

I’m not asking the Kabam employees to take a pay cut. It’s a corporation. They’re not broke. I do donate to charitable causes. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t support your purchase on July 4th going towards something to help the community. I’m not asking Kabam to go broke. Just asking that they consider it. If they can donate all proceeds, do it! If they can only donate a portion and still be a “responsible” corporation, than that’s cool too.

I feel you. Point taken. Like I said before, not asking Kabam to go broke. I’m sure they can come up with a spectrum of charities to donate to that the vast majority of the community would support. If not, they can make it so you can opt out of it going to a charity. I mean, they figure out crazy things to nerf our champs all the time...they could probably sort this out.
