"Road To Cavelier Difficulty"

ToxicTurtleToxicTurtle Member Posts: 18
Hey guys I'm a player who has finished Act 5 and started on Act 6. I was wondering if the "Road To Cavelier" difficulty is only exclusive to Cavelier players or can anyone who is on Act 6 can participate it. Because it's not called "Cavalier Difficulty". Even if the 'road to cavelier' difficulty is cavelier exclusive, some players (that have finished Act 5 or level 50+) might be able to do maybe one chapter of the cavelier difficulty allowing skilled players to progress quicker. This could be a good move on Kabam's half as it could prove that this isn't a "pay to win" game and more of a "skill based" game. Any objections or agreements?

I disagree that this proves anything for f2p or p2p. But as far as asking about difficulty, thats why they were vague. they want to tailor the difficulty before it is officially released. Skilled players have always been able to progress quicker in this game.

I would like it's at the same difficulty or little harder this month Modok side quest event and with much better rewards.

The idea behind the content is for the devs to get a sense of how to tune the new Cavalier difficulty. If I had to guess, it's going to be exclusively for Cavalier players but you never know I suppose.

That said, I disagree that this has anything to do with ftp vs p2w. Many get the cavalier title by saving units, not buying them, so Cavalier itself is not closed behind a paywall.

I agree. You could argue it is very difficult to fully explore Act 6 as an F2P player, but there's no way that Cavalier itself, which only requires a single completion of Act 6.1, is a pay to play part of the game. You could even argue that 6.1 is much more skill-focused than roster-focused, as there are only a few fights that really stress roster significantly. You do need someone for, say, the Crossbones fight but that's one of the softest roster gates in Act 6, as the requirements for that fight are not inordinately narrow.

I have a second completely free to play account that is currently Uncollected. I am 100% sure it will get to Cavalier whenever I get around to really going after it. I'm skeptical it will ever fully explore Act 6, but completing 6.1 is well within that account's capabilities. And half the progress in that account probably comes from the calendar.

It should absolutely only be available to cavalier players, one would like to assume that rewards would be considered too OP for an account at a lower level.

sorry, but what I meant by 'this could help the game be more skill based' is that Kabam shouldn't be "gating" this new difficulty and if they did, it would be a bit of a bummer for alot of us. I think Kabam should just leave it as "if you can do it, go ahead, if not, don't bother". Also this means that skilled f2p players can get stacked rosters without having to dump tonnes of cash on doing that. Let's be fr, how many of the biggest total base hero rating lads are f2p??

They tried that with UC one month. Didn't go well for "skilled" players. Also when they removed the requirement of having to complete Master to unlock UC, we saw a ton of complaining about difficulty from UC players who weren't ready for UC EQs.

Well maybe there are some people who can do cav difficulty even without doing 6.2 . It wouldn't hurt for Kabam to leave it as like a level 50+ entry or something. And for the people who cant do it, they aren't forced to. It's a choice of their own.

The thing is when Kabam leaves stuff up to players to do or don't do, they tend to whine and cry when they can't because they aren't ready. Take this months labs for reference. So many people complaining about how hard they are when they're the easiest they've ever been. It's because they are open to a wider player base than normal. Even after many telling these people they aren't ready, they keep complaining about it. It's not a good idea to have it open to everyone. If you aren't Cavalier yet, you have plenty to do in game to get good rewards and build your roster. You won't need a higher difficulty for awhile.

There's already going to be enough players overreaching to get the Cavalier title so that they can attempt a new difficulty and then crying that "but but but I'm cavalier and this is too hard. Not fair".

Last thing the devs need is to sift through constant complaint posts and irrelevant data from even more players that have absolutely no business even being in the quest.

That's true. I guess I'm in the minority in that case.

One of the reasons to become uncollected is access to the UC eq. I imagine it will be the same with Cavalier.

That's a good point. If the purpose is to test the difficulty it doesn't make sense to include people who aren't ready for it.
