How do I choose 2016 rank up gem over 2015?

I’ve got a 2016 mutant gem expiring in 9 days. In the rank up screen it is only giving me the option to use the 2015 gem. Is there another a way to choose which gem I use?

    I had the same problem a few months back when I used a “generic” science 3-4 gem on She-Hulk. I reached out to support, but was unable to answer which purchase was my first as I made 3 in the same day (back in 2015), and don’t know which came first. I even sent a screenshot of the purchase history, but that didn’t help. In any case, I don’t think support will help me here.

    Is this an intended feature? It seems as though using specific gems should be more easily achievable within the game outside of contacting support.

    I guess the question is if losing a 2016 gem is worth saving 400k gold, which I could still save using the gem later when some of the others get buffs.

    I have 2015 and 2016 rank 3-4 science gems (And 2 non-year-specific 3-4 science gems)

    It defaults to the 2015 gem for me. I’m using iPad 6th gen.

    In theory.... yes

    In game.... no.

    Only works for Awakening games

    The game auto prioritizes the 2015 gem when using.

    If you’re looking at Colo, you can consider just spending the 2015 one on him, then spend another 2016 one on another champ.

    (Yes I know it’s not a solution but it’ll be better than having the gem expire when the time comes.)

    I almost complete all the Variants except final chapter of Variant 1, but have Zero luck to get even one 2015/2016 Mutant Class 3 to 4 Rank Up Gem.....you’re just my opposite :|

    Back to your question, do you have 5star Old Man Logan or Gambit? You could rank up them with 2016 Rank Up Gem (they’re buffed or about to be buffed)

    I think you have to go to your item inventory, choose the gem there, and select the champ you want to use it on. Pretty sure it works that way.

    You have to contact support, say you want to use the 2016 gem on colossus and don't have the option. They'll adjust your inventory afterwards.

    Not a good idea though. Better to save the gold and rank up another 2016 champ too. Are there two other 2015 mutants you'd use a gem on after Colossus? Probably not.

    Using the gem of lesser value makes sense in theory, but not in practice in this case. I’d have to rank up two champs to r4 which I do not want at the moment or have the resources(ISO primarily) to facilitate to ensure the gem in my overflow doesn’t expire.

    I don’t understand why we can’t choose to use the gems from the inventory similar to AGs, or why there isn’t a list of applicable gems in the upgrade screen. These are intuitive systems that just seem to have been overlooked. I can say it certainly does not make me look forward to completing varient 5 or exploring the individual chapters only to pull more 3-4 mutant gems if they will also be 2016.

    AGREE, you have to contact support and request that they use the 2016 Gem on the (state your desired champ here..)
    They can do that for you on their end, since you can not do that yourself.
    They have done for others, and until game method is changed it is the only way.

    But you will have to go thru all the Verification questions in order to prove that it is your account.
