Summer Showdown should have a set amount of attempts

DeliDeli Member Posts: 353 ★★★
If this event is supposed to display and award the summoner with the most skill, an attempts cap should be set. This will allow everyone an equal amount of tries at the fight. Currently allowing infinite attempts will result in the winner being someone who just had a plethora amount of times repeating the fight over and over until they reach desired score.

The event is already stupid enough. No need to search for ways to make it even worse

I just clocked in a 70% hp run with SS just to find out Medusa can solo him. I don't have Medusa. People with Medusa can retry as many times as they want to solo in the fastest amount of time. I'm automatically out of the picture. There should've been only one shot at it.

Sasquatch is way faster than any other champions, and is 1 month old? how many summoners are out because of it? GG

It is bogus event protest by not participating. There are far easier and cheaper ways to get the "potential rewards" without slamming your head against an event meant for endgame whales.

I might dip my toes in, I might not, I was tired when I looked yesterday. I can see why there’s such a nutty health pool though - there’s a far higher chance that there’s going to be daylight between the competitors in a 500 hit fight than if it had a 100k health pool, especially with the amount of entrants

Everyone has disagreed with this post, but yet not 1 person has commented on why everyone should be allowed infinite attempts at this fight when it is supposed to award players based on skill.

It rewards the top 9 players out of the thousands attempting it. If only 9 people get to advance anyways why add the extra limitation of numbered attempts?
You said that the player who wins will be the one who simply repeated the fight until they got the perfect attempt. Shouldn’t that player deserve it for putting in the time and effort?

The Showdown is supposed to reward the most SKILLED players, not the ones that put the most time and effort. It’s not an arena showdown.
An attempt cap restriction for the competitive mode should exist.

If it's only about skill, everyone should have at least equal access of masteries. Also not everybody have best 4* champs wich are good for these fights

See the problem with an attempt cap, is that with the Show Up being available, people would just go to that with the one champ they're going to use to attempt the Showdown, until they get the fight perfectly. Thus it renders the cap kind of useless since you'd essentially get an unlimited amount of practice on the Show Up difficulty first before going in and nuking the Showdown difficulty.

    What aren’t you understanding?
To be able to get this fight down at all requires skill. Even the best players aren’t going to get this down without test runs.
The bad players won’t be able to get this fight down at all, no matter how many times they try.
That’s the point of the fight.
Not to mention, that the bad players will quit.
Even if you try this fight a million times and manage to get silver surfer down, you also have to compete with the skillful players who get it down faster, or get it down with less hits taken or no hits taken.
You make it sound as if a non skillful player will just eventually get a perfect run as if it’s a luck based fight.

Throwing 1 million attempts at this is NOT going to get you a better score than the top 10 players skill-wise in the world even if they only did 30 attempts or whatever. They are far more skilled than you and I, they know the game like the back of their hand and are churning out the absolute best of the best optimisations with masteries and champion choices, experimenting and putting their knowledge + skills to the test. That is why they earn these rewards.

They're having fun in the game squeezing the most optimisation out of their champions - why do you want to rain on that parade?

How would players with lower skills be able to outscore the skillful players if it’s based on the best 9 runs? There’s only a week to get the best run in anyways, so there’s your cap.
