I don't think map 5 is that much harder. The thing that makes map 5 a challenge is the new energy requirements. I used to be able to get to a specific point in tier 2, get some sleep, then hit tier 3 when I woke up. I can't do that anymore. The extra paths in tier 2 put extra stress on the amount of time you have to finish it.
The actual map isn't really that challenging, IMO.
My alliance cleared all 5 days all clears. It does take great coordinating and communication though. Other than that not too difficult if you have the right champs
I think Map 5 is a little harder, but not a lot harder. Our alliance used to be 55333 in S3, we switched to 55533 at the start of S4, and are considering moving to 55553 soon. In general, I believe our members have gotten stronger to a higher degree than map 5 has gotten harder. And that's with all the various bugs in force.
Most of all I feel there isn't an even linear jump between each day. days 1-2 are virtually the same, while day 3 is a little more difficult that the previous but then days 4/5 there is a massive jump. Maybe I'm just speaking for our alliance. Day 5 prestige is over 8k.
Looking at it directly, it's probably tougher because of the new mini bosses, because chances are, everyone is still trying to get used to NOT dodging Cyclop's beams as part of their boss killing routine.
The boss is also much harder than Kang in terms of combat wise in a lot of ways, such as being forced to block the special 2 if he reaches it, a heavy attack that is so fast that retaliating is very hard, overall faster combos and more threatening status effects along with being immune to most of them.
So yea, map 5 is harder, but to me, I feel the rewards somewhat justify that difficulty shift
See I never used a signal item season 3 on map 5 any day. Now I have on day 3, 4, 5. Energy is a non factor. Its difficulty of it. We are pretty decent prestige as well finished 551 last AQ.
Well they flat out said they intentionally made it harder so it shouldn't be a surprise.
What makes it harder for us is the extra lanes and extra need for bleed immune champs. Also fighting hyperion is always irritating... especially when we can't bait correctly because double dash back is broken.
I just don't like the extra time constraint. We used to do map 6 and then "relax" for map 5. Now map 5 throws off timing just like map 6. Pretty annoying, but still doable. Just extra stress that isn't needed.

That's something I could do without. I don't mind Kabam increasing difficulty by making the fights themselves more difficult: to me, that's "fair" difficulty. But putting extra coordination pressure on the alliance to obey tighter energy use schedules seems entirely contradictory to their assertions that changing AQ in a way that would cause alliance members to berate each other for inefficient energy usage was something they cared about. I would think you would want to encourage alliance members to work together in general, not hammer each other to meet stricter requirements than necessary.
I'm not saying some coordination prerequisites aren't fair. I question the degree to which it is arbitrarily increased without any obvious gating requirement.
Honestly, just dropping the timers to 45 minutes would fix a lot of the energy issues. Kabam doesn't care if we have jobs or need sleep though.
Also, any info on when they think they will have bug fixes actually ready would be great. The constant control issues are driving the game into unplayable and making it a chore.
The new season maps are supposed to be a bit harder and that's fine, the rewards are better so it balances out. The issue is they still haven't fixed all the bugs that are forcing us to spend tons of units on potions. I really hope they get their ish together soon and provide a SERIOUSLY GENEROUS compensation package to make up for the clusterfunk this game has been since 12.0

Map 5 is a lot harder that it was last season. Day 4 and 5 got insane.
