Summoner Sit-Down: xNig

Hey all! Today’s sit-down is with @xNig, who I'd like to thank for answering these questions. Take it away, past me!
Favorite Champion?
Quake. She’s all-around awesome, carries me through Map 7 and... Chloe Bennet is just hot.
Worst class?
I would say it will be Cosmic. Given 6*s being the next progression point for roster development, decent 6* Cosmics are hard to get. (Top of the mind I can only think of CG, CMM, Aarkus and Venom)
AW or AQ?
I actually enjoy AW more, given the competitive nature of it. But the item expenditure to minimize deaths can gradually become too much for f2p players.
To be or not to be?
To be. Positive thinking. 😊
Are Girl Scout cookies good?
Er... no... but I show my support anyway.
Best Champion of 2020?
CGR, the spawn of Kang and GR.
Red or Blue?
Blue.
Best Actor/Actress?
Tom Hanks. Pretty hard to top having monologues with a coconut.
How’s your day going?
Pretty good. Taking a 2 day break from arenas after hitting 21k units. Duped my 6* Havok (then double duped my 6* Abom 😒), went for my weekly rockclimbing session with my kids, prepared dinner for the family with my wife while my kids were taking a nap, just normal day to day pleasures.
(look at this relationship flex okay)

How much content have you completed?
Explored everything the game currently offers.
What’s your roster look like?

What got you into MCOC?
It was an ad ran by Kabam when the game was just launched. Picked it up, played for half a year and got pretty bored (it was a very very different game then). So I shelved it for a year+ and decided to launch it after seeing that it got updated on my App Store. It’s been 3+ years since then I believe.
What’s your most controversial MCOC opinion?
The bulk of the playerbase are entitled and all they’re looking at are rewards, without enjoying the process of earning them.
Why is that opinion that way?
Difficult content (even longer ones) gets criticized and deemed “not worth their time”, or has “too high a bar”. Then people ask for nerfs to make it easier to attain those rewards they want but can’t be bothered to put in the effort to attain, or isn’t catered for them. This behavior was seen in Variant, in A6, Cav and even in the Book 2 beta.
I believe all these stemmed from newer players being able to bulldoze their way through earlier progressional content from the handouts Kabam gives out. And when they reach a wall that they aren’t able to bulldoze through with higher ranked champs, they cry foul and deem it a moneygrab.
Since 6.1 beta, I’ve been asking Kabam to gate progressional content (eg Story Acts, followed by recurring content, eg AQ) behind Story Act Exploration. In additional, players shouldn’t be able to use rank up materials haven’t been earned from Story Content (eg no 5* R4s until A4 exploration as that’s where you first earned T2As, which subsequently also means no Map 6, and T2A earned from ranked rewards will be stored in inventory until unlocked).
Name a champion you want to see in game, and explain why.
Blackheart. Marvel v Capcom. Arcade. Period. 😊
What changes do you want to see to MCOC?
I believe the game is pretty good at where it is now. I love the poke feature added into AQ and AW. Some QoL changes like mastery switch tabs will be welcome.
What makes content in MCOC fun?
Challenge. In my opinion, MCOC is a very deep game with multiple interactions between nodes, defenders and playstyles. It’s understanding these interactions, putting the pieces together, solving the puzzle put together by Kabam by using correct champs and varying your playstyle to suit the solution that makes it fun. You literally can feel yourself getting better.
To use an example, the first time I did Map 7, it was the Sasquatch variant. I took path 9 in section 1, Mix Master + Prove Yourself, Cascading Failure global, and got my butt handed to me by Bishop. Now I still take that path, and clear it without any issues.
You can put one thing in MCOC. What is it?
A practice ground that allows you to select the defending champ, rarity, and nodes to be added on.
Name one champion that you feel is underrated by the community.
Aarkus. That guy’s a beast and has pretty good utility.
If you could go through any Act again for the first time, which one would you go through and why?
Act 5. I feel that A5, at the time it was introduced, was really fun, given how limited our options were with respect to roster.
What do you hope to accomplish in the following year?
In terms of the game, just enjoying it and keeping my 2 alliances together while we earn rewards at our own pace.
Wrt real life, get my younger kid used to Primary school life, get my older kid to not start rebelling, and get my job done more efficiently.
Write a couple paragraphs explaining the utility and usability of the character you know the best.
I’ll skip this. 😊
Any socials you’d like to plug?
And that’s that! Next time... isn’t next week, I’m afraid. This series is taking what may be a couple weeks off while I’m occupied with other matters. Until then, may RNG be ever in your favor.

And that roster is 👌🏻. Especially the Killmonger and Emma
I’m not sure if I would really support the gated rank-up idea, don’t have an alternative in mind either. It does amaze me when I see a profile with rank 5 5* champs & they aren’t even uncollected 🤔
The only thing I disagree with @xNig is blocking materials from using. It is greatly unfair to arbitrary and directly block a player's roster based on story exploration. It is typical generation resentment: "I had a tough time with a lot of pain, so should you!" I used two R4 5* to become Uncollected. Maybe that makes me lesser worthy UC'er in his eyes, but I waited longer to become UC (I'm F2P, Unit Man was less of an option) and missed opportunities due that. If you're not as rich, skilled or confident player, I see no problem why you shouldn't be able to use R4 5*.
Edit: OK I finished it. I can understand where they are coming from with their controversial opinion, and I actually agree with most of it and that it seems the player base is trying to get rewards easier and content is being crippled because of it, but from that I've seen and some of the content on the list I have done, I think some of it did need to be toned down a bit. Some of the content could have stayed were it was at and would have been fine, but others seemed as if they were designed milk stashed and units and they were more frustrating than fun fights. But that's my opinion on it.
Finishing tough content gives you that accomplished feeling but there’s nothing worse than finishing it and immediately opening a complete dud. Now I won’t get into a RNG rant because RNG is RNG and we signed up for that when we started playing the game. However, why shouldn’t we expect rewards to be over the top for finishing content? Opening crystals and upgrading champs and getting new champs is one of the best parts of the game! That’s why you see so many youtubers and such buying and opening tons of crystals at once and showcasing it! Although Act 7 will undoubtedly be easier than originally planned, why can’t we still want the rewards to be awesome along with it?
IMO that’s why many are disappointed with Cav EQ rewards. Because they went with the bare minimum. I know the content isn’t hard (for most) but they definitely took the bare minimum they could for each resource and threw it together for the rewards
