Aegon Combo Party bug

It has been really annoying to get through the legendary side quest with the Combo Party global node buff being bugged.
I was using Aegon with Proxima's synergy to keep the combo meter from falling, I would get hit once then I lose all the cruelty buffs and die or lose a huge chunk of health if I did not build past 1 cruelty, even when the combo meter is not broken because of combo shield. Makes Aegon unusable even with unstoppable buff on the heavy attack, the same thing happens.
I know the side quest is over and I gave up on it specifically for that, but I don't want to face that issue again in 6.3.3 when I attempt it.
