Is OR worth a gem and sig stones if I'm not running suicides?

Mine is R5 max sig and only use him in cav eq since he bleeds there and works essentially like he has suicides for the extra damage, but no loss of life throwing specials. Great synergy with colossus too. But in general questing, hardly use him when suicides are off as the damage difference is pretty significant.

Love using my 5* and 6*, especially with the Mutant Cav EQ lanes being perfectly suited for him

Even if you only use him as a caltrops/biohazard/bleed/poison node specialist he is so dominant in that niche that you can then build the rest of your team around the boss fight (maybe bring a Colossus as a back up lane clearer ). I find that to be pretty invaluable.
