Ignore option needs work

Currently the Ignore feature on the forums serves no true purpose when attempting to Ignore a user. After ignoring someone they are still visible in discussions, just simply "shadowed" out. The user is also able to see our own comments and respond to them or abusively flag them.

Mods, you are unable to follow a good portion of threads and tend to not see our discussions get derailed by our community troll(s) and we are left to suffer from this. Flag option serves no true purpose since it can't always attract your attention to the threads in question. Flag feature is also abused so much that one might feel mods tend to ignore them.

In order for us to enjoy these forums and make the most out of them we could use a better Ignore feature. In ways, this could also prevent you from having to close down good threads because some troll(s) wanted to take a thread off topic and turn it into something else to raise other debates or arguments from the community.

Hey there R4GE, thanks for the suggestion regarding the forum ignore feature. We do have a thread open for forum related suggestions and issues open in the Suggestions section located here.

That said, posts and threads that receive multiple flags do end up in a queue specifically for moderation review. Unfortunately, you're correct, often posts are flagged inappropriately and the time to handle these inappropriate flags can take time away from moderators reviewing full threads.

This is a good time for a reminder to all! The flagging feature only works well when everyone follows along with it's intended purpose. Things should only be flagged as Spam if they are OBVIOUS Spam (a user posting the same message across multiple threads, crossposting the same thread across multiple forum sections, or those spam bots that may get through our automatic filters).

Posts that clearly violate our Forum Rules located here should be flagged as abuse.

Posts should not be reported/flagged as spam or abuse just because one does not agree with another's point of view, or because someone's posting habits are "annoying" you.
