Who should be my first Rank 2 6-Star Champion?

I have been focusing very hard on ranking up my 5-Star Champions, but finally I think i'm ready to start putting resources into my 6-Star Champions. There is a problem though. I am not at all happy with my 6-Star roster. People have worse than me, but it's a selfish game and everyone knows it. No matter where you are in the game, ultimately, you're playing for yourself. So don't tell me you have worse than me because I know that lots of people have worse.

My 6-Star roster includes the following:
- Magneto (Red)
- Black Widow (Deadly Origin)
- Morningstar
- Spider-Gwen
- Green Goblin
- Ronin
- Taskmaster
- Iron Fist
- Storm (Classic)

Now, I bet most of you have gotten to the bottom of the list and are thinking something like "Magneto is the obvious rank up" or "why is this even a question, MAGNETO OBVIOUSLY!"

Magneto, One of the Gods of the Mutant Class. And I hate him. He is a really good champion. But I just really dislike playing him.
It isn't because I can't play him well, because I can him pretty alright. It's just kind of a good but boring champion to play.

My only other consideration is Black Widow (Deadly Origin), she's so much fun to play and her shock damage is awesome. but she isn't a God like Magneto. But I definitely enjoy using her more.

So the big question is, who do I rank up? The overall better Champion or someone I actually enjoy playing?
OR just wait for a Champion that I'm perfectly comfortable with ranking up with no questions asked?

Please let me know what you think, it'll be a big help.
Don't troll because of the comment I made about Magneto. He IS a good Champion, just not for me, maybe?

Magneto is the obvious choice, but if you really don’t like him that much, your second option is BWDO, and she’s a very fun champ to play. But I do recommend Magneto

The overwhelmingly obvious choice is Magneto, but if you don't like playing him then it is a wasted rank up: you should rank up the champs you actually use. For me it would then come down to BWDO who is pretty good, Morningstar who is kinda slow to ramp up but becomes a monster when she is, and just waiting for someone else to come along that is both very powerful and you like to play a lot. As long as the resources aren't expiring, there's no rush.

Funny story, I have Gwen and Ronin at r3. Mags soon.

Ronin and Gwen are both fun rankups mainly, but Gwen has a lot of good utility too.

My vote is hands down Ronin, because I love him so much. Super fun. Great damage.

Gwen is a fantastic slower, with incredible enervate and decent damage.

That being said, Mags is the best of those by far.

Actually one of the things I like about him is how boring he makes so many fights. MODOK? You can ignore autoblock and just fight him normally if you want. G2099? You can ignore miss and just fight her normally if you want. Doom? Just fight him normally. IMIW? Just fight him normally.

Magneto turns a lot of interesting defenders into boring fights you can just keep punching until they fall over. And that's before you even learn how to build up prowess with heavy or stack critical bleeds with specials.

Don't always focus on always Ranking Up the Absolute Best Champions, if you find someone you enjoy playing even if they aren't The End All Be All just Rank Them Up!
It saves you from Burn out, you may find Unique ways to use them, learn of certain interactions here and there, and many other reasons.

I agree Magneto is Amazing and all but a Rarely Use him unless an annoying Gully 2099 is on a Path, cause he's just Alright to play, I have him as a R5 5 Star and R1 6 Star. I rarely use either after the first month he was Buffed and my first 6 Star to R2 was Gambit over him (and several other Gods) just because I loved playing him so much and that Horseman Mode is So Cheesey...

Besides Rank Up Resources are so much easier to come by nowadays, it's only a matter of time before you can Rank Up another. Don't put too much pressure on deciding which one to go with, when I did that I enjoyed this game a hell of a lot more.

Oh personally I'd go Spidergwen, such fluent animations, but if you enjoy BWDO don't let anyone stop you.

Rank up that champ whom you enjoy playing. If it's BWDO, then take her up. At the end of the day, it is just a game, and not a second job.

But for real , i disliked magneto when i first pulled him but i saw his bleed damage from sp3 and i liked him. 10 heavies , double prowess twice and metal champs dead. but if bwdo more fun , rank her up

So you think that who I find fun matters most? This is helpful data

Waiting could be the way to go, BWDO could too.

I enjoy Gwen a little, and she'll possibly go to r2 in a while, but it'd be a long time before i would ever think about ranking her up past there

I think you should focus on your 5* roster. With the limited number of 6* champs you have available, my guess is you have some serious gaps in your r5 champs.

In general you should rankup for the content that's ahead for you. Nothing will make you fall in love with Magneto more than a 1-shot of the Act 6 Darkhawk boss, or Abyss IMIW. But champs like Sentinel can get you through 100% of Variant 2 & 3. Venom destroys a couple of the more recent Variants (6&7 I think?), and good luck exploring Act 6 without Quake and Ghost.

I know the game meta is "shifting to 6*", but that doesn't mean it's the right time for you to make that shift.

This is a lopsided poll if ever I've seen one. I beat 5.4.6 Ultron 8 times with a four star magneto doing most of the damage. He is a beast against any metal champion. Well deserving of the rank up. Some even consider him the top mutant champion in the game.

All of those other champs aren't even top 5 in their own class, most not even top 10.

I see a lot of "if you don't know how to play him" but the reality is - if you don't know how to play him you should learn how to play him. He's not someone like Tigra who is ultra niche, he is more like Ghost and Quake - you should learn how to play him as well as possible. I don't even have a 5* version of him and I still bring out the 4 star

I think when your options are limited, always rank the best champs first even if you dont like them.

Magneto will help your progression, even if you only use him for the niche fights he excels at he is absolutely worth it because he destroys some of the hardest defenders in the game and there is nothing subjective about it, no tier list to argue about and not much in the way of sensible debate, Mags is one of the few that this applies to.

I think ranking fun champs is better left to when you already have enough great champs, because fun is a luxury that will cost you.

You should have excluded Magneto from the list if you are not interested in ranking him up...then you would have got some good opinions...

If not Magneto then Morningstar for sure. @TheManMythLegend care to evangelize the OP on MS?

If I were in your shoes, I would had ranked up BWDO, before I could reconcile about it. I certainly won't regret it, because; 1. I like playing her, 2. She has nice damage and it increases even more at rank 2.

But honestly, Magneto is very strong. Words from a 4/55 Magneto user. He puts in so much work for me, almost everywhere!
Forget about the #metal needs. He could devastate opponents even without it. 35 prowess and SP3, BOOM! Of course the damage doesn't seem to be like anywhere close to what it's against #metal. But it is really good. Once awakened, he has resistances and more damage from heavy. Basic attacks are energy attacks. A very unpopular opinion, but I have used him against Korg too. He works pretty good there.

If you're unsure, rank up another 5*.

Edit: I never get it why people disagree with an initial post like Intensity108's. He doesn't insult anyone, he's just frank about his preferences. Why would you disagree with him?
