The in-game swearing filter is absurdly overzealous

An alliance mate was just asking if there are extra mastery points somewhere. I responded:

"Did you explore act 4? Some masteries in there"

But this is how it came out in the chat:

"Did you explore act ** **** masteries in there"

What on earth is this? In what world could that have been interpreted as swearing? Oh my god I'm just now getting that maybe it thought I was trying to talk about a foursome? This is ridiculous.

You literally just said something inappropriate then added a space between the word, so how is the filter supposed to know the context? 12 year olds play this game.

this is why most alliances choose to use line or discord. the in-game chat is convenient because it's right there, but there are so many flaws.

This time it at least censored something that could resemble some sexual offer. Most of the time it censors absolutely harmless things, that couldn't even mean anything else than game-related stuff.

I always laughed at Twitch censoring the word "bych" (which means "would" in my language), mistaking it for some vulgar name for females. However in case of mcoc censorship, it makes 0 sense to me.

IMO: ditch the filter, and then add a filtered option with a child-lock function.

I don't mind filters tbh, as there's lots of edgy 12/yos out there, but this is somehow the worst filter I've run into in 20 years. Most of the time it's better to just give up rather than trying to find the offending string.

People who really want to be offensive always find ways around it anyways.

A few months ago we were talking about our weekend in alliance chat and I wanted to talk about a microbrewery near my house. I tried so many things but I could not explain what I was talking about. Bar, beer, pub, "adult beverage" were all censored out. Apparently these words are too extreme for kids to see.

Meanwhile we're talking about suicides in ally chat right now, how suicides can be really great but suicides are also very expensive. For some reason the filter thinks this is totally fine.
