But everyone said these were basically game breaking and everyone should rush to get them when they went live...how could this be possible?
What does that have to do with updating them? No one said they aren’t good. A little melodramatic. The game is always evolving, and kabam can adjust accordingly or people can make suggestions. That doesn’t take away from the item.

I don't recall anyone saying TB dailies were game breaking, or anything exaggerated like that. Some people said they were sufficiently valuable that anyone who could become TB should do so as soon as possible, even to the extent of ranking up any random champion to do so to get those rewards. Some people said they looked almost worthless and not worth becoming TB to get. The truth turned out to be about half way between those two.

You definitely weren't paying that much attention to the threads about them early on then. They were completely overblown for a while when the title went live. I said then that they weren't ranking a champ you wouldn't already and still stand by that.

I'm pretty sure I read most or all of the threads related to Thronebreaker leading up to and just after launch. The reason why I started collecting TB daily statistics was because the ratio of people saying they seemed worthless to the ratio of people saying they were awesome was running about three to one. I wanted to determine if they contained enough value to be unquestionably relevant to TBs.
I also stated then that I believed they were not worth ranking a champ you wouldn't rank up in the first place, but that was primarily in response to people who believed that Thronebreaker rewards overall, including the daily crystal, would generate enough rank up materials quickly to make that rank up decision moot. I did not think that was true then, I don't think that is true now, but I'm less confident in that position than I once was.

To me personally, the biggest benefit to becoming TB is access to TB-only rewards in content like SOP and the TB glory store. The daily crystals are a nice little extra bonus but not the main benefit to becoming TB.
Independent of specific TB crystal tweaks, one underlying point from Zola original post and comments is that the rank-up economy seems to have changed from mid-late 2020 to now, and that change is primarily influenced by more summoners becoming Thronebreakers and/or using that threshold as the North Star for their progression goals.
This feels real to my experience, but idk if there’s DNA or Dr. Zola level analysis to back it up. I did see video from utuber Kam discussing, effectively, how the t5b/t2a economy has shifted from Fall ‘20 to now. The short summary being there was a t2a bottleneck, and now it’s t5b because of how Kabam has tweaked the ratios of what they offer in deals. I’ll post that link here as it seems another part of the calculus for how to tweak crystals, massage the economy for TB’s and general quality of life.
Great thread @DrZola I'm in agreement with it all especially the 6* shards (better to get 500 than never see the mythical 10,000) and amount if t4b, t4cc and t2a. Funnily enough the t5b drop amount (4,500) is much more rewarding and not half as rare as you'd expect (from my own experience).
Also I've gotten 5* twice but it really is probably the least wanted prize for a TB as it only has champs from the basic pool.
Time to tweak alliance events and SA event for sure! Premium shards and 4* and 5* shards for weekly SA event? They should make them 5* and 6* shards at least!
Comments
5.2 Uncollected
6.1 Cavalier
6.4(+R3 6*) Throne Breaker
So, may be there are chances of new player level at 7.3 or at 7.4
If this is planned with 7.3, I dont think these daily crystals drop rates will be tweaked..
