Current Cosmic Contenders to Climb to R4

I waited until last night to finish my 7.4 exploration because I wanted Hyperion in the basic pool. I pulled him once from the last featured, so I was desperately looking for a dupe so I wouldn’t have to use a generic on him. Got him out of the cosmic nexus I selected, I was over the moon. I also got extremely lucky and pulled Knull with my last run at the previous featured 6* pool. Which now leaves me with a dilemma. I have three contenders for the r4 cosmic gem I got from exploration:

Silver Surfer, sig 200
Knull, unawakened (I’d use a generic, I have two now)
Hyperion, sig 20

Here’s the rest of my cosmic roster as well, in case you see any others you want to pitch:

I don’t run the recoil tree masteries, and I do actually use Surfer in a lot of content, he’s not just a prestige champ. Let me know your thoughts!

KG/VP/Knull would be my choices

Congrats on the pulls!

If your alliance is pushing prestige and AQ placement (or you're trying to get into an alliance that is) surfer is your obvious choice.

If you want to cause problems for people in war and battlegrounds, knull, KG, nova, annihilus or terrax is for you.

I can't lie though, if I saw a profile with an R4 venom at the top I would be quite envious.

Hyperion, angela, and odin are all worthwhile choices too.

I love the idea of an r4 Nova purely out of spite, but I don’t think I can justify that 😂

Friend in a Line chat pointed out that if I took up Surfer, I could save my sig stones for other champs. But if I took up pretty much any other option, I’d have to pour in 100+ stones to make the investment worthwhile. It’s a pretty compelling point.

Who do you think you will use MOST in general questing? Take up that champ

With suicides knull would be an obvious pick, but if you like hype and know you’ll use him, rank him.

Also knull benefits from high sig so your stones won’t be wasted on him, as compared to hype

I don’t run suicides, but I do have them unlocked. I turn them on every now and again when doing stuff like Carina’s Challenges/other Everest content. I haven’t yet done the Come Out and Play challenge, and I’m sure an r4 Knull would just chew through that. He’s definitely at least going to r3 for it.

But I also pulled him on Monday, so I’m still not sure of what content I would bring him into normally. Do non-recoil mastery users use him regularly?

Hyperion is the definition of reliable. Useful so many places, offense or defense, just aged like fine wine. I’m absolutely going to be taking him up at some point, the question for him is whether r3 is sufficient for what I’d use him for, or if the r4 really makes a huge difference.

Silver Surfer is like a Swiss Army knife to me. I use the Bishop matchup as an example of how useful he is: you don’t have to worry about his incinerate aura, as it actually just increases Surfer’s damage output and gives him some willpower healing. If you’re clever, you don’t have to worry about his tough to dex unblockable specials, because Surfer can just phase right through them. He’s also got that on demand armor break which is a thing of beauty in matchups like Killmonger.

King Groot’s actually a real contender. He was my most recent r3, and he’s a real thicc boi. Just tanky as you could want, a lot like my Nimrod. And I know at higher sig levels that regen is wild. Plus his damage output is enormous once ramped, and he’d be a proper monster on either side of the line in Battlegrounds.

Before I ranked up KG (like last week), Surfer was easily my most used 6* Cosmic champion. KG might catch up though. Before my roster outgrew him, Hyperion was my most used 5* Cosmic. Knull is the shiny, new toy. I really don’t know which to pick.

For Knull and KG, is there a sig ability sweet spot y’all would recommend?

If you’re comfortable using a generic and stones on Knull, then I’d go with him. His prestige is not bad, top 20. And he’s good both on offense and defense. I have a r3 sig 150 that I’m happy with.

Silver surfer is great for sure, but man knull....I bring him into anything I can. I don't run suicides currently and he is still just such a monster. Definitely preferable to be awakened with decent sig cause it makes the ramp much shorter. Sustain, armor break, ridiculous damage, gets around evade and auto block, with great resistances as well.
