Number of players needed to play aw or aq

Does anyone know if there is a minimum number of players that are needed to play aq or aw? In other words can you play if you only have 1 or 2 or 3 players? Can you have an alliance with 1 or 2. Is there a minimum in the alliance to play the daily things like use Avengers, mutants or items,etc? What is the lowest map you can run? Thanks.
