Terrax Taking Degen By Warlock Why?

DeaconDeacon Member Posts: 4,430 ★★★★★
So Terrax is supposed to be immune to power drain or burn when fighting metal champions yet he is taking degen from Warlock.

Am I missing something?

if that's the case then it's really stupid. an immunity to it should not be able to be inadvertently canceled by his doing. i mean c'mon man. if true, they need to immediately update the description on his ability to clearly state HE WILL DEGEN HIMSELF WHEN FIGHTING WARLOCK. because then you get into why when i use a special and the same thing is happening as i strike into Peni's sync shield does he not take damage back?

i mean these things really frustrate me ... how, if true, they insert these little ability loopholes.

if this is true, you guys need to update the description immediately @Kabam Miike

not the kit just the description. much like Immortal Abom for instance ... or anyone who self inflicts something and their description says it deals no damage or has no effect etc.

it would just probably be a good idea especially for anyone who takes a champion into a fight and the interactions aren't clearly stated. I fully expected him to be immune to power drain and burn as I'm sure quite a few others only to run into this instance where well he's immune except when he's fighting specific metal champs lol.

I just think Kabam would be served best to point out these loopholes because they are definitely not common nor something the everyday player would even expect. No one says "oh great he's immune to power burn but not against a champ or situation where he'd self inflict" ya know.

Why does it need to be updated? It states that his power drains when he uses his SP1. It states on Warlocks sig that when an opponents power is drained they will degen.

His immunity to power drain from metal champs doesn’t mean his own power drain function wouldn’t cause Warlocks sig to activate.
c'mon man. you can't convince me or anyone else that when this champion was released you immediately said "oh but this won't work against Warlock because he's gonna self inflict it". and i'm not talking about after Warlock throws an SP1 .. this is happening at the start of the fight immediately he takes the degen.

it should be added to the description just as a caution that's all. it never hurts to give the player more knowledge instead of asking them to simply figure out or stumble into these situations.

It’s added on Warlocks Sig ability. When an opponent is power drained they degen. This is universal and doesn’t state the power drain needs to come from Warlock himself.

Been looking for Terrax fights online against Warlock and stumbled upon this footage from last year in which the degen is NOT happening. so this was not always the case ... so what changed?

Warlock’s sig clearly states when the opponent’s power drains they get degenerated. Not “when warlock drains their power”, it’s “when their power drains”

Terrax’ ability says he drains his own power.

It’s a pretty simple logical statement. When opponents have power drain they are degenned. Terrax has power drain so he gets degenned.

Terrax is immune to Warlock causing the power drain, but he’s not immune to power drain itself. So because the power drain is caused by something else (his abilities) warlock is able to trigger his degen because that triggers whenever power drain occurs.

Nowhere in his kit does it state that he is immune to power drain or power burn. It is a very conditional statement that says he is immune to power drain effects FROM #metal.

Nothing is stopping him from power draining himself.

The power drain itself does not cause any damage. It's the sig of warlock that causes damage and it is a completely different effect that as far as I know no one is immune to.

There's thousands of interactions in game . Including them in champions kit is absolutely ridiculous and would exponentially increase the champions kit description.

I "guess" that makes the most sense but still. Thanks bro. I often forget that you can't ask a simple, genuine question without all the aggression around here lol

I just honestly think this kind of small loophole could be more clearly explained. Especially when the instance of it is not always consistent as I pointed out above with Pep.

Sorry but you're the one who came in guns blazing pointing fingers at kabam and calling the interaction stupid and whatnot and tagging miike for some reason??
The only one being aggresive is you
that's fair. it's the internet though. often times you can't read intent. i make the mistake sometimes as well. forum life though ..it conditions you to be defensive in most cases i suppose.

I mean, he has a point. If it was one way before and another way now, which is the "intended" way for this interaction to be happening? Was something changed and if so, when? Was it changed to make the interaction correct now or was something changed with an unintended consequence? I don't agree with the tone of the questions previously, but these are certainly legitimate concerns that should receive an official response for clarity instead of making the forum users guess back and forth. Let's avoid the moleman scenario and get some genuine Mod feedback. That isn't too much to ask, is it?

Loophole or just a counter? There are many counters to champs' abilities. This would be one of them. So it'd be like you asking kabam to spell out all counters to a champ's abilities in their bio.

So, this question is important with Warlock looming as our fourth EOP champ. Lemme be clear - I absolutely get the interaction here and it’s fine to me in this case. If the game team doesn’t agree, code it as something besides a power drain. It reminds me of kingpin versus void - a class advantage and it turns into a nightmare.

Here’s why I’m bothered - look at a node like Bishop’s power actuator node in this EOP. If it’s a cheap way to access unavoidable damage in fight design, I don’t want it.

Descriptions should explicitly state what the abilities do. But it is not reasonable to require that they state how every single interaction with every other champion will go. That isn't just impractical, it isn't even desirable. There are some things the player should discover for themselves. If an ability A says it does X, and an ability B says whenever X happens Y also happens, the player should deduce what will happen when they combine, or experience it if they can't. They shouldn't be told "well, I know you *think* this won't happen even though the plain text says it will happen because you think it shouldn't happen even if the game tells you it will happen, but trust me it will happen."

If this was an exception, I might consider otherwise, but this is not an exception. This is a case where the black letter text says it will happen, and someone thinks it shouldn't happen so the game should emphasize that what it says will happen will in fact happen. That's not something the game should ever do, because it turns the players into mindless zombies that need to be hand-held through the game.

If that happens, then terrax will be nightmare for metal champs . He will remain in rock field for eternity.
