First 6* Normal or Featured?

I currently have 8000 6 star shards and this next war will put me over 10000, along with some 6 star shards from the summoner camp. Should I buy a normal 6* crystal or save for featured? Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.

Normal is pretty much always best

Basic. If you have to ask, the answer is basic.

Put simply, snce the featured costs more shards you need more value within the featured crystal to make it worth it, unless you just enjoy gambling, in which case do whatever you want. When your 6* roster is small, the odds of the featured having enough value relative to the basic are low.

Why does your roster size matter? Well, the short answer is that every pull is one of three things: a new champ, a first time awakening, or basically sig stones. There are a lot of at least moderately good champs that are worth pulling the first time. Of those champs, a smaller percentage are worth awakening (many are good unawakened). Of *those* champs only a few are worth spending a ton of shards to just add 20 sig levels to them. So when you don't actually have any 6* champs, the odds of pulling a good one are higher than if you have a lot of them, because when you have a lot of them many good first time pulls become bad sig stones.

That's when featured crystals can start to become attractive, because they have a smaller pool of champions in them. So you might have a lot of them (making the crystal worse) or you might have very few of them (making the crystal better - for you). At that point the featured crystal can make it easier for you to shift your shards from a crystal that is worse to one that is better. When you don't have any 6* champs, that sort of steering is not really as interesting or worth the extra cost.

As a first six star, think of it this way. Would you rather have 3 six stars or 2? That’s effectively the trade off when it’s your first. As time progresses, the ratio changes but not significantly until you have a nearly complete six star roster. When that happens the featured is more beneficial as you will have a 24% champ of pulling something new, as oppposed to a maybe 5% chance

Ok thanks everyone. The opinions seem very diversified. :)
This normal crystal is definitely, almost certainly gonna be doom, right?
    Thanks again.

My first 6* was Venom, second was Ultron. I have never opened featured and I don't think I ever will. I currently own 43 6*s. I never got Doom from basic though, I got it from featured cavs nexus.

I've only opened basics. I don't have the newest champ, right away, but I'm not hurting for good ones. Granted, my 1st 20 or so, we're big turds, it has more than evened out over time. Just ember, every bad pull is another step closer to the next good one.

Go with basics until you have pretty neat roster

Until you’re targeting individual champions basics are usually your best bet.
