I’d like to know how Kingpin’s buff is better than that of Red Mags lol.

From what I understand, it’s minimal. Value update.

I believe the reference is to Thor ragnarok, as opposed to red mags
That is correct. Sorry for any confusion. The red mags buff was in a class of its own and Kabam said as much, so didn’t bother showing that as a tier option.

I have been a massive fan of IMIW ever since pulling him as my first 6* many years ago. He has always had far more offensive ability than people give him credit for. The amount of utility he has is massive, and the damage has never been bad, especially once you get a plasma or two up.

The single biggest issue with him was that the plasma duration was really short. If the opponent was being defensive or had a long special attack you'd probably lose all your plasma. Even more importantly, it was nigh impossible to generate plasmas with a sp2+sp1 cycle, the sp2 was long enough that the only way to refresh preexisting plasmas was to dash in immediately and hope for the intercept. This could all be mitigated with the stealth spidey synergy, but it was an unfortunate downside of an otherwise amazing kit.

The buff makes the plasmas last longer while doing a little less dps. As someone who's almost certainly in the top 5% of offensive IMIW enjoyers, I think this is a solid buff. Although I haven't been able to try the buffed version yet, I anticipate the biggest benefit being the ability to create plasma with sp2+sp1

Overall he will be left out champ by majority of the players here incomparision to some great tech champs in the game..

Would’ve been nice if they highlighted the changes within the character spotlight so I could spot the differences.
Incinerate lasting 16 seconds seems updated? As well as the plasma changes you all mentioned

As it seems, the few of us who enjoy using him offensively, will keep doing so. But no new enthusiasts will join us. *sigh*

I never understood that part of the buff problem, which does detrimental changes to characters, altering practically nothing about their usage. I mean, at the end of the day, the anguish and the disappointment of the community backfires on Kabam. And yet, here we are….

I think the issue is that they are afraid they will overpower the champs by buffing them, so they fix one thing and destroy another… instead of you know, testing it. 🧐👀

I was constantly using him until the middle of Act 7, I really like this dude, but I never got him to r4. I got excited when I found out he was getting a buff, I said finally, my guy will get his rank up! And then, the buff came. And I r4ed Warlock.

Easier to manage but lesser DPS
Now more people CAN use him as an attacker but most of us still WON'T use him

It seems weird that they took a champ whose two problems were (1) lack of damage and (2) tricky to use effectively, and made (1) slightly worse and (2) slightly better.

Was that really worth the effort of the change, let alone running an entire beta?

Seriously, for those that took part in the beta, what was the feedback given? That this was fine?

Most agreed that his damage was worse but he was easier to use and the buff wouldn’t make a significant impact on his use throughout the game. I don’t recall anyone saying the buff was fine as is, most wanted a damage increase

Silver Centurion still hands down the better plasma damage dealer, buffed Ironman IW is no comparison to the lather.. not even in the same class.. although it might be easier to get plasma.. the lower dps and all effort needed to achieving it is not worth it at all, compared to other tech which can do more damage.. Nimrod, Omega Sentinel, Ultron, and I think Howard Duck or Yondu can out damage Ironman IW.

My first 6* is Domino (very good) and second is Ironman IW (I was excited until I found out he was more a defender than offense focused).

Most Ironman characters are a let down and are scrub.. Ironman OG (sadness), Inferior Ironman (not superior at all), Iron Patriot (er what for), War Machine (good buff but once armor is nullify or broken, so so), Ironman IW (defender but can be easily dealt with nowadays), and Silver Centurion (from battle realm.. best Ironman damage wise)

    Thanks - that's what I thought.

So in that case, what was the point of the beta at all? People gave up their own time and effort to try something, and give feedback; only for that feedback to be totally ignored.

Was the Kabam team so focused on making it easier to sustain plasma/Incinerate that no other feedback was considered? Was DPS even reviewed? Or was their metric of success something as simple as 'number of seconds with plasma or Incinerate active'...

I’ll put it this way. I took him to r3 to play around with him during 8.2 beta (disclaimer: I don’t know if they changed anything between then and now). There were multiple shock vulnerability paths in 8.2… and I found myself extremely underwhelmed by him.

This was a champ that was my first (and 2nd) 5* and first 5R4. He definitely carried me to grandmaster. But he’s stayed at 5R4 since then, and the 6* is staying at r1.
