Did the BG Matchmaking Get Changed? I've been having a lot fairer matchups these last two days.

I haven't heard, but my guess is that everyone that is trying to get out of VT is finally out (the more serious players) as they were pushing since the end of the season is upon us. Just a guess though.

I agree with your guess, by now everyone who wants to be in GC is there. However, I still can't understand why people think they have to get matches close to their rosters for it to be "fair" when we are all competing for exact same rewards.
My meaning of fair is not getting matched against opponents based on prestige number.
I apologies then! I read it a different way and frankly am sooooooooo tired of seeing weak accounts complaining about facing anyone stronger than them while getting better regards than some paragons.

So then why not let the heavyweight boxing champion compete with the lightweight right? Its the same rewards.

It's not the "same" Rewards. It's the same payout. There's a difference. Same payout is possible if Paragons win their Matches as well. For some reason, that's a travesty unless it's against Accounts that are lower than them.

We're not competing at different Tiers, though. Same Nodes, same format, same objectives. Win the Fight in 2 minutes and lose as little Health as possible.

You call one side having 3x Damage and the other side having 3x less a fair measurement? Seems like one side wants to default to a Win instead of earning it.

Most people by now are either out of VT or have given up. GC is at an all time record low in terms of point rankings. I can basically get 270-280 points and have guaranteed Celes 6 which is nice.

If you want to have players facing those of their same basic roster, no problem, just create separate leagues with separate rewards. For example baseball has minor leagues A, AA, AAA and then the pros. Players start low and work their way up through the minor to the majors.tjeir rewards (or salary) progress as they advance as well.

Baseball doesn't let the top A, AA and AAA team into the professional majors playoffs and compete for the world series title.

If you want matchups based on your roster, then kabam should create separate leagues with separate rewards. There is no reason a weak rosters should be allowed to get all victory track rewards and GC rewards without playing only "minor" leaguers to get an easy ticket to the "playoffs" while stronger rosters have such heavier competition they get lower rewards.

So....Roster shouldn't account for anything....unless it supports the judgment that lower Rosters shouldn't be allowed to earn the same Rewards. Hmm.....
Either way, this conversation has been had a number of times now, so I'm not feeding redundancy. There is most definitely another side to this that isn't being acknowledged.

First of all the 3x damage, which doesn’t exists as a difference between players in BGs, unless the one is playing with 6*s and the other with 4*s, which I doubt anyone does.
Second, do you think that stronger champs were handled to players for free?
They were earned through years of grinding or money spent.
What does entitles UC lower accounts to claim same rewards, and have the same chances to get VT tiers rewards, reach Gladiator Circuit and get ranked rewards?
Their skills to kill the 5.2 Collector?
Give me a break mate, Prestige matchmaking is a joke, and we didn’t need to confirm that once more.
It was confirmed at AW in the past.
People remember what happened back then in AW.
Same is happening now at BGs.
    And it’s UNFAIR.

The 3x Damage is a loose example. You have Nodes, on top of the difference in Stats between Ranks, and you also have differences in CRs. The higher the CR, the less Damage you can do. It's a combination of factors that makes it less of a true measure of Fight vs. Fight.
As for earning it, that's all ego-based. You don't earn Rewards in BGs because you've played for years, and done X and Y in other areas of the game. What's the sense in even having a competition if that's the case?
Scoring doesn't account for any of that. You get 3 Fights to have the best of 3, with the same metrics in a couple minutes. Not "I made it to Paragon, I did Abyss, I...." etc.
You win your Fights in BGs. That's how you earn Rewards. You don't win, you don't advance.

Placebo effect. But if you’re saying we aren’t getting matched based on prestige, what’s the metric then for matchmaking now?

My personal take is that metrics like prestige or even deck rating is needed for Victory Track. But it’s anything goes once you hit Gladiator Circuit. It’s a participation trophy for anyone who runs VT but it’s every man for his own once they’re in GC.

Seen several threads of weaker accounts complain about matches they get in GC, my message to them is that there’s no free lunch. Git gud!

I used to think you are just arguing for the sake of arguing but I realize now that you actually believe in what you are saying.

    Fair matchmaking.
Game thinks he is a good match for me. 2.7mil rating account vs 6mil. And I was matched with him twice in 4 matches
Ofc this is a victory track.
If lower roster are playing only lower roster why I am playing with him. Ah ok I know. He has got similar prestige so it is fair….

So 6mil players should be matched with 6mil players? That’s even more absurd considering just how many of such players there are, they’ll probably match each other every time and that’s far worse than just “twice in 4 matches”. And 2.7mil rating isn’t that bad, I’m slightly higher and get matched with 4-5mil players half the time. 6mil players once in awhile. It really isn’t that bad.

I do believe the matchmaking is far worse for smaller accounts, this isn’t anything serious

Matchmaking doesn't make a difference when disconnects and cheats are constant in the higher brackets its almost unplayable
  • SearmenisSearmenis Member Posts: 1,636 ★★★★★
There Are different tiers, VT and GC. Supposedly we re competing to get to the higher rank, GC, and then to an even higher level for even better rewards. If matchmaking is based on prestige, non spending or no top tank players will get matched with whales and top master alliance players, the two categories in the game that have easier access to bigger rosters and higher rank champions. It s not even a case of "gid gud", if your roster is 2 levels down from the other player, your skills won't help much. So these unfortunate players will keep struggling in VT until the last week of each season, when, we hope that all whales/masters have moved on to GC. The non skilled whales will stay in VT, as it s supposed to be, causing problems for the rest, skilled but with no big wallets players.

That s the situation, even you like it or not.

The first criteria for matchmaking in Victory Track is Tier. I'd say about 98% of my matches have always been against someone in the same tier, and when it's not, it's never been larger than a 1 tier difference. Second criteria appears to be Prestige.

I'm also in favour of in general trying to prevent the lopsided matchups. I like how Alliance War has tiers that award a different mulitplier towards the points that are earned. It's a good balance of being able to keep all the matches more even while also rewarding stronger accounts even if they end up losing a little bit more often since their competition is more difficult. It also doesn't inherently block out any account simply because it hasn't reach a progression title or is smaller. If they can win, they get better rewards.

The main problem isn’t that you are matching an account twice as yours, because you just have similar prestige, the big problem is that you are both still at VT, while several UC 10k Prestige or below are enjoying GC from the first week, thanks to Prestige matchmaking.
That’s the real issue, that both of these accounts (your 2,7mil and the other guys 6mil account) will receive half rewards than accounts, that are in many occasions 10x smaller.
We saw that happened at AW (during Prestige matchmaking), we see it now too.
    It was expected to happen.
If it’s intended to happen, Kabam should confirm that to us.
I dropped any effort at my main 3,7mil account, staying for first season outside GC, at only Platinum3 VT.
I’m not gonna try hard and lose my sanity, over something my alt Cavalier account achieved with minimal effort.
If Kabam continues this fiasco, in order to cater to small accounts, then I’ll personally focus on my free to play alt account, at least until other players “outprestige” my main.
I can’t see the point of grinding(or paying) on a big account, in order to make it bigger, if that sets me in disadvantage, instead of rewarding me.
No thanks, I’d rather have fun with my alt 😉

With alts holding much less value, I'm sure twinking/smurfing of alts at different levels over time could occur. People who spend could even buy the new 5* champs for $50 if they are BG worthy and raise them up from BGs. The only time you go up in prestige is when a new top prestige 5* is released.

Just don't go above 5r5s on the account with 1 low prestige 6r3 and play just BGs and sit and destroy. WoW had this for years until they made people choose to either level or lock the account against others doing the same. Here there is no leveling like this.

With this matchmaking setup, these BG posts are going to be here every day.
