Always read them. As @Pikolu said, I play the game for the story and look forward to the plot development.
But in my view, this month was dire. The writing to me at least, brought across uninspiring, annoying character personalities, propped up by slating established, marquee characters. They did the same with misty Knight's writing.
The contrast with, say, the writing for black cat EQ, was stark. She came across as a loveable rogue, that I wanted to play.
We've come to expect snide comments and air of superiority from Emma, as a protagonist villan or any of the mercs. Or even that tragic, misguided megalomaniac, like spot or titania.
But I did not like it at all, in the people supposedly on your side. Even to the point, that it makes me not want to pull, or play them.
Heros should be written with stoicism, sacrifice, flaws, overcoming the odds. Not as arrogant twasoks. That's supposed to be the bad guys.
I read it cause I actually find the story/lore interesting.
Like there’s current unanswered question that still need to be answered that’ll greatly add to the puzzle
Same here. However I do find the stories becoming somewhat less interesting. In my opinion most of the stories are becoming standalone storylines, and have little connection with previous event quests. Also I miss the cutscenes after the Event Quest. Last one was from Bloodlines (June 2021). I think the current major running storyline, the Galactus storyline, could have been illustrated more with cutscenes, like they did with Thanos and the Inifinity Gauntlet. Since he was being summoned in When Titans Clash! (November 2019) I have seen almost nothing of Galactus, while in the story he, and variant Galactusses, have already reached the Battlerealm and destroyed Hell's Kitchen.

They're young. they're powerful, they're bound to be arrogant twazzocks.
When I was a new player, I read every word, the more I have played the less I read and now I just skip everything. I actually feel kinda bad doing it too because I know there is some good work that goes into authoring all that content it's just a QoL thing for me / personal choice.
I read just couple lines to understand the basic plot these days. I stopped paying attention once I realised, that they all follow the same basic design
New character origin: Pulled into Battlerealm recently OR Has been hiding until now
We fight the new character. Why? Villain - they have some evil plot that needs to be stopped Hero - lost their senses/were manipulated OR just some combat practise
I remember there being some really great storylines a few years ago around the introduction of Immortal Hulk / Abomination as well as Spider-Ham. I started a thread about it and a mod mentioned that the Hulk / iBom storyline was written by Al Ewing
I always mean to read it but I rarely do. Sometimes it's pretty good. Deadpoolooza was going on when I started playing and it's one of the reasons I kept playing. Loved when Venompool was created and found himself conflicted between the desire to kill the Spider-Man and the desire to eat nachos. Sometimes it's brutal like anytime Morningstar speaks. These days I skip it most of the time.
Disagree with me all you want, but this is a game based at least partially on comic book characters and their stories/backgrounds. Skipping the dialogue is basically the same as looking at the illustrations of a comic book but not reading any of the speech bubbles. You invariably miss out on lots of information. If you don't care, then that's cool... I read all the dialogue so I can understand what the state of the Battlerealm is. It's not like it's freakin' A Tale of Two Cities, folks, it takes such little time to read.
Used to read them. Now I am uninterested. There's never any cutscenes anymore and supposedly Galactus was tearing apart the battlerealm for the last year but you'd never know.

A closer analogy would be buying a TV and reading the 50 page manual. Fact is, the story is completely irrelevant for the gameplay. There's no choice we have to make that is rooted in any info contained in the story.
Personally, I found the whole concept of summoner and the Battlerealm extremely cheesy and wedged it to fit the actual game when I started playing years ago. Maybe it has improved, maybe it hasn't, but back then was nowhere near comic book quality.

But then EQ got very grindy and some day I stopped reading.

Way to go
New character origin: Pulled into Battlerealm recently OR Has been hiding until now
We fight the new character. Why?
Villain - they have some evil plot that needs to be stopped
Hero - lost their senses/were manipulated OR just some combat practise
Maybe I should start though - recommended for the EQ quests?
