AW off season affecting tiers

The first war of the off season we won and received the rewards that are for tier 4, then we start war 2 of the off season and the tier has dropped to tier 5, we won that war too but received the rewards relative to tier 5 ... now I'm pretty sure the tiers should not be affected in off season, this is definitely going to have an adverse effect on the points we score for our first war season. We also finished the previous season in tier 4 so there is no reason for us to have dropped.

Can we get some info on this @Kabam Miike @Kabam Jax

We had the same thing happen a few seasons ago and I believe it's because AW rating, not AW Tier, that is locked

    - For Tiers 1-4, your AW rating will not change. So win or lose you'll get zero points

    - However because it's AW tiers are % based, if you are right on the cutoff line between Tiers, you can move or down as alliances join/disband even though your actual AW rank doesn't change

Frustrating to be sure but also means you know where the cutoff score is

It’s about time they froze war rating in all tiers during off season.
Kind of ridiculous when you’re in tier 1-5 and drop a tier without playing a competitive war.

That's interesting, if it is true then why on earth did we even drop a tier when we won the match, but either way, win or lose, you score no points so how does the cutoff score come in to play with no points 🤔

Your tier is not solely based on war rating. War tier is based on percentage ranking. That means which tier you are depends both on how high your war rating is, and where everyone else is relative to you. You could even drop a tier if you are right at the border between tiers and a few alliances drop out of the rankings. I'm not sure how they decide which alliances count and which ones do not count for rank percentages, but it is possible that if an alliance goes idle for more than X wars they stop counting. If the total number of alliances that are considered participating drops, it becomes slightly harder to reach every tier (because the number of alliances that make it into that tier drops).

One of the reasons why war tier is not frozen during the off season is because doing so would make it take longer for new or reformed alliances to win their way to their proper rating. If a new alliance forms and their rating was frozen except for active season wars, they only way they could climb to their proper rating would be to destroy lower alliances in wars that counted for the season.

Although the real reason off season wars count is simply that all wars count by default, and the ratings freeze was placed at the top tiers to prevent ratings jockeying during the off season.
