Why does unstoppable triggers for a short time before stagger works in BG?

Is it working as intended? Sometimes (lot of times) I put couple of staggers on the opponent and in the middle of my combo unstoppable is triggering just enough for the opponent to counter attack before it nullify.

I don't know what's the point of stagger then?

  • Just lost a Jane Foster v Terrax match because of this, but it pretty much is working as intended. Stagger is an old form of nullify, and they coded it so that they had to co-exist on the character before nullifying, which means it will always go into effect, even if just for a moment. Not something they're likely to change anytime soon since it can be passed off as 100% intentional, but it is very frustrating to deal with. My best advice is to just back off until the unstoppable is already nullified.

Yeah stagger only removes the buff after it comes. So if not times properly unstoppable can be effective

It’s been like this for a few months now. Silly , it never allowed any ability to proc even for a split second

I've been playing since 2015 and even back then, it would proc for a second before getting staggered. Means you just have to pay attention to the unstoppable timer

I’ve been playing just as long as you (2014) and don’t remember seeing any buffs proc when the enemy was staggered until recently.

Because most of the times it doesn't matter. Heres a video from 2 years ago

Didn’t see any buffs trigger when enemy (heimdallr) was staggered

Didn’t see any buffs trigger when enemy (heimdallr) was staggered

You can see it trigger for a split second and then go at 10:42

A split second isn't the same as one or vene half a second though. Is the time it's taking the stagger to activate longer now than before? That is the question.

No. The only one that takes ages is anti venoms stagger to my knowledge

Good eye! I didn’t catch that.

    Shouldn’t be happening IMHO

It’s so you can gain mystic dispersion from it. If it was changed so it never triggers, it can never expire. It would nerf a fair few mystics

I understand how it needs to trigger MD but the unstoppable triggering for that split second has caused some problems . In other instances the buff doesn’t even appear at all; just the call out appears for it.

    I'm sure it's just a visual thing.

As for how it functions it says that stagger removes the buffs when the champion gains a buff. That's how it's always been and is working as per the description.

Another champ that would be nerfed would be doom. Him staggering power gain buffs would no longer give him power gain . That would effect fights like Hyperion
