MCOC on home console video game / 60 and 120FPS on mobile

Hello ! I've always wondered whether Kabam intended to release a console version of the game in the near future!

A few years ago it was utopian to see a mobile game released on a home console, but now it's become commonplace (Bleach Brave Soul, Genshin, Honkai, Tower of Fantasy, etc).

In terms of joystick controls, we can imagine VsFighting-style controls (Street Fighter, MK, Guilty Gear etc.).

Concerning the mobile version, are you planning to release an option for playing at 60FPS or even 120FPS, like most recent mobile games? Most of today's smartphones handle 60 or even 90FPS, so it would be a great QoL to have a smoother game!

If you have any opinions to share, don't hesitate to post them! :)

Upgraded FPS would create even bigger input issues than we’ve seen in the history of the game. Even though we may all want the game to look nicer, they’d have to rebuild inputs from the ground up.

I seem to remember Kabam talked about this topic WAY back in the day. Hopefully, someone can validate that @DNA3000 @GroundedWisdom ??

It wont' be coming to console. It allows the game to be further exploited and be played on a whole different way than intended to be

Controllers would be too much power in the hands of a skilled gamer.... Now that I think about it .....

You won't see higher FPS until ever device that runs the game can run 60 FPS at minimum. There are also very few devices out there that allow you to change your FPS. It requires certain graphics chips that lower, more affordable phones won't use so they can keep the cost down.

Since others have tackled the question of porting to console, I’ll attack the frame rate question. In MCOC, frame rate is not just about graphical smoothness, the game depends on specific timing that most games do not. If a game skips a frame or lags a frame, or slows down and then speeds up, the game might look weird but it still functions similarly. In MCOC for complex technical reasons how the game draws individual frames not only determines when things happen but also *if* they happen. For example whether your parry works or not depends on whether your block is a “well-timed block.” If the game doesn’t spit out frames of action in exactly the same way every time, well-timed blocks can become not well-timed, and parry fails.

While many games can tolerate the occasional frame skip or timing skew, MCOC is much more sensitive to this. So there are tons more problems with attempting to run at higher frame rates.
