Questioning the battlegrounds matchmaking

I don't understand how battlegrounds matchmaking works. I am getting opponents who are significantly stronger than me and I just can't win at all. For example, this is an average opponent I get:



While this is my roster:



Their worst champs are better than my bests. Can someone explain how the algorithm works and what can I do?

What I think has happened: I was uncollected before and when I became cavalier, yesterday, I started getting such opponents. So I guess it has to do something with the progression in the game. If so, why can't I just fall down the rank and get opponents equal to me?

    Roster matchmaking is removed when you hit Plat 2. Once you hit Plat 2, you face anyone and everyone.

    Oh okay. That explains it. But if I get opponents like this, I'll keep losing.

    That is probably accurate. As a UC/Cav account, you’ve technically hit the cap of what you can hope to accomplish in a BGs season. I think part of the problem is the fact that the matchmaking isn’t this way from the beginning. It makes for a relatively painless ride up until a certain point and then immediately becomes the most frustrating game mode. The problem is if this starts in Bronze 3 then you will have to get super lucky just to get your first win. Then on the other side of they don’t adjust the matchmaking at all then lower accounts get an easier ride to the Gladiator’s Circuit without having to fight the accounts that actually had to work to get there. So like all content in the game, lower accounts are allowed a portion of what is available in the grand scheme of the total rewards.
