Persistent Placement

I just noticed we are now able to place defence in war . What is the situation with masteries ?

Does it work like BGs work i.e current masteries persist once loaded to your deck or would it change if you change your masteries for attack. ?

Masteries lock when matchmaking starts. They don’t save like in BG decks.

@MrSakuragi yes but with persistent placement it is set and forget . So if I switch on suicides for attack phase do I have to reset my masteries again before the next match making?

If so then it sort of defeats the purpose as this means you have a 4 hour window to do this before the next attack phase .

You would still need to take off suicides before matchmaking for the next war. It doesn’t improve anything there from the old system.

Just want to comment here that there seems to be a little confusion related to when MATCHMAKING STARTS versus MATCH FOUND, and 4 HOUR WINDOW discussion.

From Announcement, your Defenders (and *which* BG # you are committed to) are locked in as of MATCHMAKING STARTS. But that just deals with *which* defenders you have, NOT their Mastery status.

It goes on to say your Masteries are frozen for those defenders at the time MATCH FOUND. Which (1) is different from Matchmaking Starting, and also (2) does NOT mean you have a 4 hour window. Matchmaking may only take between half hour to 1.5 hrs (or less, or more).

At least, according to Announcement.

And nothing implies that you can only change back to Defensive Masteries AFTER the previous war's Attack Phase has ended. You can set them back for Defensive Masteries at anytime after you have finished your planned AW offensive Paths (used to just have 24 hrs, so now having 40+ hours should leave plenty of time to finish attack and switch back to defensive set well before the new matching even begins). And/or, whenever you are done doing Arena or other suicide-needed quests for the day, before potentially leaving for the night (if your timezone is such that Matching is while you sleep).
