Does ascension work like an extra rank adding to base attack/health or like a boost adding modified attack/health?

It acts like a permanent 20% health and 20% attack boost, just that it never runs out.

The percentage varies between star levels so you’re both right

So if it acts like a boost rather than an additional rank then champion abilities that scale on base attack would not increase like omega red spore damage for example?
