I'm sure some of you have seen the absolutely idiotic pricing update that Unity just announced. I'm just wondering how this will effect the game as I imagine this game goes well over the install threshold that Unity mentioned on their website.

Yep. Extra half cent per download. Staggering

(glad this one is starting out a little more civil than the last)

Wondering if when they say their pricing is by New Installs (if that is how it's worded ?), does that only apply to FIRST-TIME installs, or (hopefully not) to Monthly Updates.

Of course, even then, transferring to new device might count as NEW INSTALL (?), even though your GooglePlay / Apple account would show you have in installed it somewhere else already (just not on your new device yet) ??

I'm sure Kabam is having internal discussions about it. That is a LOT of cost increase.

If I had to venture a guess, it would be per device. I very much doubt that a third party library would have access or ask the hosting app / game for users' account details. They can however manage app+device tokens.

A lot of this from what I gather is still up in the air, Unity had said that it'd count for EVERY install. Including reinstalls Then later backtracked to saying it was per device install, then they might have changed it up again but I'm not 100% sure about that.
Then there is always the chance that Unity decides to cancel this plan because of the extreme amounts of backlash

So the short answer right now is: We don't know yet

The problem is, in more recent versions of Android it's basically impossible to gather a unique number from a device like a serial code or IMEI, so I'm curious how Unity could differentiate between me simply uninstalling and reinstalling the game on my own device or doing so on a new device

Source: I'm a software dev and our lead developers has come across this exact issue often

Uninstall/reinstall on same device I can potential see as same as if installing on new device (even if you already have it elsewhere).
Because after the uninstall, the button on GooglePlay /AppStore is INSTALL again.

Just want to make sure they won’t try to count UPDATES too (which would then hit every single player, every month, and sometimes twice a month for HotFix’s)
