    Battlegrounds tries to match players within the same VT tier, but on rare occasions (maybe because it is having trouble finding a match quickly enough) it expands its search to look for players in adjacent tiers. It has happened to me maybe a half dozen times in all my time playing BG, and others have seen it occasionally as well.

    It can happen, it does happen, but it should be rare.

    Below Platinum II (?) you are matched with comparable Rosters anyway, maybe that’s why.
