About this month's EQ splash screen...

I noticed something with this month's event quest splash screen, and it's been nagging at me for a couple weeks.
In the artwork, you see Silk, Mr. Fantastic, BWDO, and Aegon fighting Onslaught. But none of those characters have anything to do with the actual event quest. (The event quest focuses on Prof X and Magneto, which makes sense for those of us that know the character from the comics.)
So: anybody have any theories as to why that is?
Obviously, the boring theory is that the art dept. just didn't get a heads-up from the story dept. on which characters would be fighting Onslaught. But that's boring -- and it's worth pointing out that all the other splash screens I've seen have in fact used the characters that were directly involved in the EQ storyline.
So I'm looking for non-boring theories. Crazy, fantastical, absurd theories welcome! Amazing-but-true theories also appreciated!
