Which cosmic 7* champion should I take to r3?

I pulled a cosmic gem from necropolis, wasn't too happy at first and was going to take Maestro to r3, but I recently pulled Adam Warlock, which had made it a bit of a difficult decision.

I mainly want to rank up for battlegrounds. I already have a fairly strong roster so I don't need anything in particular, and whoever isn't taken to r3 will be at r2.

I want to make my decision before Kabam's holiday gift so I can be valiant at the time.

i used my generic gem on maestro . tanky defender will always be in BGs deck, no matter the meta.

Adam can be used for both. Plus, a good chance that a r2 Maestro will be banned/win as much as the r3.

He doesn’t need it but it makes him a better defender and helps him stay alive in longer content like necropolis

Maestro still serve you better. Adam is a flawed character.

Maestro I believe is subject to balancing so he could see an offensive tune up.

I was in the same position with cosmic gem and considered ranking maestro to r3 (or maybe surfer), but opened a 7* crystal, a titan crystal and guardian crystal. I wanted knull or Hyperion actually, but only cosmic I got was Adam, who's now r3. He's not as good of defender for sure, especially unduped, and most likely be won't fit every bg meta with his half-immunity to nullify as attacker. So if you only care about bgs, maestro may be better choice. With more health he would stay alive longer and would deal higher damage per second for longer time, so ranking him up is a double win in terms of points he takes away from your opponent. But he's so boring to play. And Adam is kinda fun. In the end of the day I just couldn't take a champ I won't ever be using myself to max rank.
