BG Season 14 > What's a "Damaging Effect"

Was using my void in BG and there was no power gain.
Now I wonder why, as he is tagged as "Offensive: Damage over time" and he obviously has 3 different damaging effects.

Any explanation here?

Void inflicts damage simply based on debuffs either damaging or not, but his debuffs are not damaging debuffs themselves.

The BG description states "... suffering from a damaging effect.".
Voids effects are damaging. So I still don't understand why this would not count.

It would be a damage effect if it were incinerate or bleed for example. Petrify, slow and the other one I forgot what's called, are not damaging debuffs.

Voids debuff works like petrify. Petrify is not a damaging debuff but reverses health. Same with void

Damaging effects simply means both debuffs and passives. If you want to argue that void’s damage should count, void’s damage is instantaneous every 0.5 seconds, so instantaneous damage happens in an undefined amount of time. Therefore there’s no period of time for which power can be granted.

Void's debuffs do not deal damage. Void has a passive ability that causes damage on the target when they have debuffs. The damage comes from that ability, not the debuffs.

A damaging effect in MCOC is explicitly an effect that directly delivers damage to the target they are affecting. None of Void's intimidating presence debuffs directly deal damage.

Willpower is a mastery that heals the champion when they have a debuff. That does not mean stun is a healing effect. The heal doesn't come from the stun. It comes from Willpower. Void's debuff damage works in the same way. The debuffs don't deal damage, Void does, when the target has debuffs.
