Yeah, its really unfortunate. I was looking forward to this. EOP was great when it was going on. The fights were difficult but could be practiced and gotten the hang of. This Absorbing Man is just straight unfair. There's no skill in this. It's just praying the AI works in your favor, and you deal enough damage until the inevitable death. They just decided to load up as many nodes as possible, and probably didn't even play test it. I hope they'd consider reworking this, because this has been awful.

Not giving access to debuff damage and passive just removes mang good counter.

Same happened to me. Got him down to 50% on my 1st try. Died to brute force cause the AI didn't want to fight me, leaving me to watch my health dwindle. Fun & interactive stuff!!! Revived & he ended up regening to 75%. Finally said F it & went full Hulk smash & 7 revives later, abs was finally done
