It has been an especially long run for problematic defenders, but problematic defenders are not a new phenomenon, nor have the calls to quit over them. It happened with IMIW, with Korg, heck this goes all the way back to Magik and her "unfair unavoidable Limbo damage."
The thing is, all advantages are temporary. It was the whales with the stacked Onslaughts, but over time quite a few players pulled him from featured crystals (that's how I eventually got him). And over time counters to those defenders appear in greater numbers. And content like SoS appears that strongly encourages players to practice against those defenders and get better at them. Nobody's quitting over facing IMIW anymore, and Korg is far less of a problem that when he first appeared. The players that stick it out eventually both acquire those champs and learn to deal with them.
Kabam gets to keep the whales' money forever, but the advantages they buy are very very temporary.

You will find the grass greener if you stop trying to compare yourself to whales. BG is only a mode of this game. Don’t like a defender, ban him/her. Don’t have enough bans, learn to fight them. By the end of SOS part 2, pretty sure most people could dex onslaughts sp1 and 2s
Yeah I spend and whale out but doing so and getting champs I do not want is frustrating so not spending and getting champs I don't want feels a lot better than wasting money on shards lol a lot better
My message to anyone getting frustrated with the game is this:
Take a break from competitive modes and stop comparing yourself to others. Complete some new content every time you play - even if it's just a path or two in an event quest (or a back issue for that matter.)
If you're going up against a piece of content that's costing you too many resources - STOP and come back to it later. Don't dig yourself into a hole while getting more and more tilted.
Focus on improving your account bit by bit: Unlock important masteries, rank up versatile champions, avoid spending units on gambles unless you've got extra to burn. You'd be surprised how much progress you can make.
I spend from time to time so am not f2p, i think skill can achieve more in the game than $$$ and unitman can.. spending to open more crystals doesn't guarantee more luck or rng for getting certain key champions.. crystal rng can either make you feel spoilt or extremely deflated.
I know I am not as skilled as others and I lose to better players (AI) but I still play cause it's stress relief for me (or cause more stress 😅 😌 😊).
OP, you need to find balance, you sound like you are burnt out.. take a breather and return when you wanna play.. but don't compare your account to others.. that doesn't make it better for you to be envious of their accounts roster..

I want to relay this out because this game is such a crash grab with endless farms for money. Through horrible content(new onslaught) to deals to events as a ftp it’s TERRIBLE i don’t have the time to grind arenas that won’t get me anywhere near what I gotta do to compete with these whales.
1. The vast overwhelming majority of MCOC players are free to play.
2. You can get tens of thousands of units grinding for just an hour or two a day. And if you grind less, you can still get proportionately similar returns.
3. The whales spending all that money are supporting the game, and allowing the vast majority to play for free. Games aren’t free. Someone has to pay for them. You can step up and spend, or you can play completely for free. But if you’re going to complain about the very people who are the only reason you get to play this game at all, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for your position.
4. If you don’t want to spend but you want to compete with the whales that do, that’s like trying to compete with a bunch of drag racing drivers without a car while on foot. Nobody owes you a dragster just so you can compete with them. There are hundreds of thousands of other players in this game you can play with and compete against. If that’s not good enough for you, then that’s a you problem.

2. Jump on the grind train but one hard content like SOS and all goes to drain.
3. This game also existed in 2020 and before the gap between whales & others were not that significant. Now just buy the champ ,buy the catalyst and stomp the account (I have lost many match where I out drafted but last champ is negasonic or they reroll to get negasonic my skill champ gets destroyed)
4. it's not about competing with whales I am playing at gold4 level aw .there are 24-25k prestige,6-7mil account we are facing. I am playing BGs I am getting matched with the same level what should I do stop playing BGs?? Join even lower level alliance?? Rewards in gold4 is completed nonsense compared to the opponents.
