So it looks like some clues are fake? I clicked "use item" and got 1 smiley face and 2 sad faces.

The smiley face would be 0 since there are 2 4s and 2 frowny faces

if it is a 4-digit combination and 4 and 0 are the first 2 digits of the combination then the combination to open the mystery box should be one between these 100 combinations.

4 is probably a false clue, and I would guess the 3 hourglass mean that it's for the third digit, so xx0x

I didn't even check my inventory until I'd beat Juggs 4 times and got the special objective clue. I have a smiley face and a #4. Was one of those already in my inventory from in-game mail or something? I also thought the slips were the hints themselves. Wasn't sure if we were actually supposed to "use item".

I must be missing something specific to Murderworld iteration. I’m pretty sure the first one is from the 1970’s. I have those comics in storage.

Curious why you are assuming 0 is the first number of the sequence and not the third number.
