Thus why their leaders want the world to start spelling the name of their country differently now. (it is hit and miss as to whether some news sites actually started doing that).

Although, wondering, even though the country wants to be spelled different now (to avoid being compared to a “flightless bird” during Google searches), is the spelling of the “nationality” version also changed, or do they still spell it “Turkish” ? (and if changed, how would you add the “ish” onto the end of the new spelling ?)

Problem is even if the government of turkey wants them to be called "turkiye", This cannot happen for decades until Majority of us try to forget the current name and adopt the new one.
Basically these "name change" stuff are mostly a political stunt. A similar controversy is going in India rn lol.

Plus, doesn’t either the U or the I in new spelling also have a “tilde” above it ?

So, nobody in US is gonna spell it with the “tilde” (basic keyboards don’t have that).

Whenever I see the new spelling, I want to pronounce it TUR-KEY-EY. (double EY)
Which would make the nationality TUR-KEY-YISH

Fun fact but Turkey actually doesnt have its own culture, instead its compromised of a mix of Armenian, Assyrian, Greek, and Kurdish cultures

@captain_rogers I haven't heard the India name change controversy. What are they trying to get people to recognize it as?
