Hey.... I put my phone down do all that when I am at 70 energy and driving and stuff like that... I can be guilty of things that are unsportsmanlike... Let's not pretend that CCP members are all morally honest though... We all know and heard some stories...
Nothing wrong with giving free win, if you put your phone down then you are not pausing (I assume), which would mean guarantee you are not winning.
But at the same time, really losing with energy doesn't really benefit much for anyone, an extra 4 points isn't much. Your 70 energy might be more useful as autoplay in MEQ, but of course it is your account and you have the right to do however you see best.
Also again it is your life so it is up to you, but I do high recommend not thinking about MCOC while driving, for your own safety and other that share the same road with you. It is just a mobile game really not worth the risk. 😊
As for the moral or ethical of anything, well it is all down the to intention, and that only the players themself know (well they might not if they keep lying to themself).
As for CCP, I fully agreed with you, they are also just people, not some kind of higher moral person, however they usually, should be at the high skill level, and most of the time have an extremely big account. Sure definitely more moral questionable for doing farming.
Of course we never fully know what the reason (or excuse) these players have, hence why I fully follow the Kabam T&C and blanked the names of these players, they very well have genuine ethical reason for what they do, I'm willing to get them the benefits of the doubt, but are we genuinely believe that all of these forfeits and pausers this season are mostly for the right reason and not breaking Kabam T&C. 🤣

If an alliance is pushing for points for the alliance event or someone is pushing for the realm ranked rewards (especially bastion) then they need to stay at the bottom of Uru. Up in arcane, my match times are like 1+ minutes long already. Knowing that CCP member, they're probably normally up in celestial which can have horrendous matchmaking times. It isn't uncommon for matchmaking to take 5-30 minutes up there. Considering that, it makes sense to drop down to where the players are at for matchmaking times alone. The other side of the coin is win rate. Up in celestial you wait forever just to be matched with AndrewTheRuff who proceeds to crush you because he got a better draft/AI. Very frustrating when points are all you care about. At the bottom of Uru, you're probably getting almost guaranteed wins from those not familiar with the meta which saves you units on elders marks because you got a better winrate.
However, none of that has anything to deal with what OP is dealing with since they're probably in plat facing whales who are either farming or just slow.
I fully agreed with you regarding the waiting time, I have watch quite a few celestial streams, and yep the waiting time is much longer and this is an issue that high tier BG face, but it still doesn't take away or make ethical, or follow how Kabam intent it to be, and it is clearly break Kabam T&C, we have seen players been ban from BG for farm. At the end of all the reasoning, it is still big/high skill players abusing the system so they can abuse small/newer players and point/ranking/rewards.
You are completely right this isn't related to the OP, but it is replying to some of the posters here with various excuse on why it is ok to farm points.
Anyway it is up to Kabam, they have the data, they can take action if they want to. Their action or inaction will dictate how players will respond. I will keep playing the way I have been doing, to get to GC and as high as I can. No biggie 😊
Is this cus the Whales feel like winners for taking on someone half there level & that’s basically what they’ve paid for?
I actually hate when I’m matched against people substantially lower than my account. I race to GC so I can actually play meaningful matches. I think the VT concept forces this
If player engagement is a priority, the best way to get players enjoying a game mode is to make it feel like they can compete. Unfortunately, BG's for smaller decks is not a good time. I still think having 2 BG divisions would make it enjoyable for the newer and low-level accounts.
Honestly, Kabam would have made changes to these types of events if farming was leading to a drop in participation or giving people an unfair advantage. I don't see the fun in sticking around VT, but I can only speak for me. If VT had no points associated with a loss, then people would be forced to at least get through a match. Wouldn't stop people from pausing, putting their phone down, etc., but it would at least impact their time and make it a little less efficient.
The only way to end farming in VT would be to have no points tied into VT matches. It would shift the farming to the lower parts of GC, but at least the unfair matchmaking would die down a bit. They'll face bigger accounts who take their time just getting milestones, but there's no avoiding that.
If this is an academic exercise regarding the fairness of the VT competition in game theoretic terms, I’m here for it. However, it isn’t. This is someone complaining that strong players are “farming” weaker players in VT. However, in the sense the OP almost certainly means
THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE
In the Victory Track, you get two medals for winning and you lose one when you lose, in all tiers of the VT (it used to be Gold and lower only). This means for a strong player to lurk around in one VT tier without promoting they have to lose two for every one they win.
Which means, if there is some super strong account “bullying” players in lower VT tiers, they are giving away four medals for every one they take away.
Low strength players could only hope to run into such players. Imagine if you were a weak player in VT somewhere, and literally *everyone else* were Valiant point farmers. You’d have a 66% win rate all the way up to the Gladiator Circuit.
In an academic sense, this has an anticompetitive problem associated with it. But not because it hurts low strength players. Rather, because it helps them too much. If VT point farmers were more than an ultra tiny percentage of all players, far too many low strength players would promote into GC. And when I say “too many” I mean at levels that clearly indicated all the competitive elements associated with VT were basically moot, which used to happen when they used to use roster matching in VT. Which is why they no longer use roster matching in VT.
But at the same time, really losing with energy doesn't really benefit much for anyone, an extra 4 points isn't much. Your 70 energy might be more useful as autoplay in MEQ, but of course it is your account and you have the right to do however you see best.
The concept behind point farming in VT is to lose with energy and win with marks to guarantee wins with marks. The same is true in normal seasons, but just to use the current Realm event scoring for example, you get 23 points for playing a VT match with marks, and an additional 45 points for winning it. You get 4 points for playing a VT match with energy and 8 more points for winning it.
If you have something like a 50% win rate normally, then you’d average about 45 points per match if you used marks every match (one match 23, one match 23+45=68, average (23+68) / 2 = 45.5). But if you always won with marks, you’d average 68 points per match, about 50% more points. This requires more time to play the energy matches where you lose, but you can just put the phone down and not spend any actual time doing that. The benefits are substantial if you choose to do this, even though it is technically unsanctioned behavior.
I say 50% win rate average, but in fact if you play “normally” and push as hard as you can, you’ll probably end up with an even lower win percentage than that. If you push as hard as you can, one of two things will happen: you’ll promote to GC, or you won’t because you get stuck. To get stuck, given the 2/-1 scoring, you have to end up with an average win percentage close to 33%. So if you use marks constantly and if you push as hard as you can and if you are not one of the stronger players in the game that can go straight to GC, your points per match will drop significantly lower than 45 points per match for a substantial subset of the entire season. Point farming in theory can increase that win percentage with marks, at the expense of burning time losing with energy (and handing out a lot of free points to weaker players).

What's the problem with 2 free medals? Why wouldn't I want to run into players like this?
1. You're pushing me to a higher level than I am able to compete in the current season. In this season I got pushed several levels higher than I can normally compete. Unless I get matched against another account like mine that was also pushed up,. the only Ws I get are from forfeits. I totally expect to get creamed where I'm at now. But, because of the forfeits I will probably end up in Vibranium.
2. You're messing up my placement in the next season. I'm starting at a higher ranking than I should be starting at. Because I'm getting pushed up the VT much higher than my ability, when the next season starts I'll be seeded at a higher level than my ability.
Sure, I'm a much better player than a year ago, but, besides the rewards, getting bumped up the VT for free isn't helping.

Just pay as you can, reap whatever rewards you can, improve your roster, and try again. That's how we all had to do it.
