Personally I think whatever you do there's going to be some people left feeling or actually being hard done by as a result
I think some time ago all alliances got bumped up one tier, I honestly think that's the best way to resolve with no one feeling like this war has screwed them over or cost them points
I still don't understand why do the test yesterday instead of Tuesday into Wednesday. War is one of the most sensitive game modes when it comes to bugs. The only game mode that would have been affected was maybe people doing showcase last minute, which that would have been easier to send revive comps for that than fixing AW problems.
As of now, the plan is for the points gained by both Alliances to be zeroed out either after this war or after this season. Anyone who entered the War before it was canceled will be receiving a Compensation package (still TBD).
Uhhh... what does "before it was cancelled" mean? Because unless there is an in-game message (hint: there wasn't), it shouldn't really matter when you decided to "cancel" it by mentioning it in the forums. A LOT of people probably entered after it was "cancelled" without knowing it was "cancelled."
They should all be entitled to a compensation package because of how poorly this was done.

Probably because it's also one of the lower days of playing traffic. They definitely wouldn't do it on a weekend.
Hey folks, at the end of the day, some tech limitations are in place here.
In a perfect world, there would be a "reset the Contest to right before War started" button we could press... and this would delete any points gained since the start of this War, freeze every Alliance's War Rating, and return the exact amount of items & units consumed during the War period - and then start the War from scratch tomorrow.
Unfortunately, the Stark Foundation hasn't given us that button yet, and it could not be implemented overnight, so we have to work with what we have here.

I've brought the concerns about War Rating to the team and requested that we try to find a way to freeze it before this War ends, but that's where these tech limitations may come into play - this has historically been a messy thing to do... we're absolutely going to try to, but please keep in mind that it just might not be possible at this time.
It's way after hours, and this will all be figured out tomorrow, and once it is I'll be following up with what's going to happen, but in the meantime, I wanted to hop on to provide a bit of clarity.
So what about the required number of wars to be eligible for aw season rewards? I know if you participate in 5 wars that will make you eligible for aw season rewards. Would this current war count towards those 5???
Please confirm. That way my alliance members won't lose out because what i usually do is start up the season with 3 bgs and after the 5th war i run 2 bgs.
Even though it looks like the current war doesn’t look like it will be shut down, which would have been the best way to handle the issue of both Season Points as well as +/- War Rating.
Typically any time a War has been cancelled in the past, they have reduced the Required Minimum # of Wars needed for Season Rewards by 1 war each time.
Not sure this time, if they don’t actually end the war early, but I would assume so because they did say it was “cancelled”, which would have resulted in many not bothering joining Attack.
**However, since Persistent-Defense has been around, just having Defense still counts toward those 5 Wars (I'm pretty sure), so really not many people have actually “missed” this War.
Is there any update on this? We had a whole working day with still no official communication through in game messages etc and no further responses here
I assumed this news would mean a joyful relaxation of another couple days without AW, but it seems my alliance and our opponent both decided to use items and play like a normal war. Guess everyone was worried despite Kabam's words of clawing points back based on W/L, this would still adversely affect war ratings that would be felt the rest of the season, so why risk it? The desire for P1 is strong it seems.
Here's an example of how this has a major impact for some alliances. We faced an alliance with 10,800 points in duplicates (the equivalent of 120 Attack Bonuses). This was a GUARANTEED win for us and loss for them. But now, our season end ranking will worsen, and theirs will improve as a result of this. And we will get compensation, of course, but they will get equal compensation. So our alliance gets hosed and theirs benefits. That isn’t cool! I believe compensation can't be universally equalized in this case. There needs to be a little data analysis to identify the 100% no-doubt wins/losses and comp accordingly. We should get half of their compensation or something.
While communications on the forums are useful, there are others who would not know about this issue and play the war as normal. This sort of information needs to go out in game going forward.

So, "before it was canceled" means before the War is actively canceled - or removed from being online in-game.
As stated earlier, there were some tech limitations in play - so the War ended up staying up for the duration. Due to this, any player who entered the map while the War was active technically entered the War before it was canceled, so they will all be receiving Compensation.
Unfortunately, it isn't feasible to adjust each Alliance's War Rating at this time. So the initial process will stay as follows - all points gained during this War will be clawed back before the final results of the season, and all players who entered the map will be receiving Compensation consisting of Alliance War Potions, Energy Refills, and Grey Loyalty Boosts.

I strongly recommend the team take a look at the many matches now being played between alliances 500 to 600 war rating points apart because of this. Definitely not fun or fair for those participating.

Hello! I don't understand anything, in my alliance we are still playing war... are we doing well in playing it? Was the season cancelled or what?.. It's all very confusing.

As mentioned, it was just that one particular War that will not count in the standing, etc. (because of graphics “test” issues that affected people being able to play that specific day).
Wars since then are active and are part of the Season.
Hope your Ally does not listen to anyone who is telling them they don’t need to play anymore the rest of the season,
