Doubt regarding AW season rewards

If ny alliance member is participating only in defence but not joining attack phase for the entire season, will the member be eligible for season rewards?

Since the defence placement is automatic, so they never change their defence and they have DM me that they are unable to join attack phase for the entire season. Will they be eligible for season rewards just by placing their defence?

Yes, defense only still counts as participating

Although, why are they telling you they ARE UNABLE to join Attack for the whole season ?

Is it a vacation/trip thing, where they know they will be unavailable ?

Or are they CURRENTLY not able to, because of recent joining to your Ally, etc.
(Which does NOT mean they will continue to be unavailable, and in fact if they were able to place defense that means they should be able to join attack)

But yes, defense only does count (and reminder, shortened season before holidays here has been reduced to 4 minimum, instead of usual 5)

Actually I can understand your point of view. They have entrance exam for their degree colleges. So they want to focus this month on their studies.
