Why Did the Sentinel Buff Keep Incinerates?

DinoHop05DinoHop05 Member Posts: 22
Sentinel is supposed to be this massive mutant killing machine. After the buff (like the current version), most of his damage will rely on the L2 incinerate debuffs.

The problem is that many mutants are either incinerate immune (Kitty, Havok, Colossus, Emma, Iceman, Sunspot) or will punish you greatly if you inflict incinerate and have major resistance (Onslaught and Bishop).

So why is the buffed Sentinel still so reliant on incinerate to do damage?

Its the trend for current techs. Everyone was hoping Prowler would get it in his rebalance but low and behold, stuck with incinerate

I was gonna come in here and be like “what should it have been replaced with” except that the answer is plasma. Maybe like a “after max analysis is achieved, sp2 applies plasma”

I’d say degen would be better than plasma, since it would bypass the mutants energy resistance and avoid triggering their abilities.
I get what you’re saying, but I don’t agree. Plasma is a thing that was made specifically for the tech class to bypass mutant immunities. It’s part of their class identity, degen isn’t.
Only Onslaught should have degen, others don't

The argument for plasma is pretty meh.

Having a champion who counters literally every opponent who they've got class advantage against doesn't make the game better - it makes for more limited choices.

Do we really want all mutants to have zero defensive value, if the opponent has a Sentinel?

When you make a robo mutant killer, you want him to ACTUALLY kill.

The robo can't do **** against actual mutants defenders, so him beating scuffed mutants is hilarious 🤣

    fair point!

Y'all want the future mutants immune to plasma or what?

I had the same exact thought, and I mean hey if they can buff Deadpool twice and Gamora and maw 20 times then they could definitely add plasma later on

Huh, didn't think of it this way. Good shout.

Although I am very disappointed sentinel isn't stronger

I agree plasma is more in line with the class identity and I’d be happy to see it instead of the incinerate. Only problem is plasma still triggers mutants like Havok. Ultron swaps out his bleed for degen against mutants so it wouldn’t be unheard of. Either way I doubt they will change it unless his buff underperforms.

Because he is a mutant killing machine who CANNOT KILL MUTANTS ha ha ha.

Who will win? A ruthlessly crafted, perfectly engineered robo of vile future with only one aim to free humanity off mutants? No matter the cost?

Or a funny mutant girl who goes through walls and have a little pet dragon??

In fact, Kitty is one of the few mutants able to disrupt Sentinel tech

but doesn't ultron do degen against mutants?

good call, but from a design standpoint, they leave themselves (and us) more room if that’s an exception, and not the new rule.

Instead of outright plasma.. Sentinel needs to work for it just like Ironman IW.. sp1 shock, sp2 incinerate and medium or light hits will combine shock and incinerate into plasma.. maybe degen and plasma combined plasma meltdown (more damage than porker poppers).
