I have A R3 duped Falcon and R3 duped Sam.

I find Sam to be infuriatingly close to being a great champion. But to me, there are just too many timers to keep track of and hoops to jump through for there to be fairly underwhelming damage.

For how much his utility is lauded, I find him extremely lacking in non-conditional utility. He has so much utility tied to his armor ups, but he loses all of them when he uses his SP2. He can bypass miss, but only during his recon scan. He can get a bulwark buff that reduces the opponent's ability accuracy when hitting into his block, but that's also on a timer that may very well expire and leave you vulnerable. He has no utility that's just...there. You have to juggle so many things to even have access to it, and then sacrifice so much of it if you want to deal damage. I find that to be a very frustrating aspect of him.

Agreed. What I’ve realized for myself is that I can (only barely) pay attention to one side of the HUD while playing. Cap Sam has things on timers under both his health bar and the opponent’s health bar that you have to pay attention to. I’m not able to keep track of all of that, so he’s not my type of champion.

I love Sam, I have mine r3! Is he the hardest hitting champ, no definitely not. But I enjoy his combo of utility and it’s serviced me well in fights. I got to use him recently against both the Jabari Panther and Prowler EOP fights, as he was an objective champ but also his kit worked well for both. He’s not for everyone but he’s definitely for me

I disagree with the comparison to Silver Cent from above though. They’re both tech that don’t crit, and have some power drain mechanics, but otherwise Sam is anti Miss, anti prowess (not removal, but cowardice), anti offensive ability accuracy, anti getting hit by specials. He is also one of the few non metal techs, which comes in handy against things like Magnetos and Onslaughts. Cent is anti evade and unstoppable, a heal blocker, passive DOT focused, and has a couple of immunities. I use both, but usually not in overlapping areas.

Just got him from back to back crystals ☹️. Its not that he's terrible, there are just better tech champs to use before I even consider using him

Ironheart is the better comparison to Sam, right down to be able to apply rupture debuffs. The difference is that Sam skews more defensive minded while Ironheart skews more offensive minded.

Regardless, I don’t particularly either’s timer based playstyles.

That's really not hard. If you just want to kill things quickly, better Tech champions would be:

- Guardian
- Hulkbuster
- Classic Iron Man
- Shocker
- Prowler

If you want more utility and damage:
- Ironheart does basically everything Sam does, but better.
- Viv Vision has immunities, power control and phase; and she can finish most fights faster than Sam, on 100% health
- Omega Sentinel packs a bigger punch and has different but equally versatile utility
- Future Ant-Man

P99 is one of the best tech attackers
