I ultimately went with Kang as well. Probably not as useful as Vision, but I'm betting there will be easier ways of getting Vision down the road, and Kang's utility is way more niche but also more interesting than Vision's is. When it coms to trophy champs, I feel uniqueness is the way to go.

Odds of them adding more milestones just to add insult to injury?
Probably zero. We're sort of on the edge of reaching or not reaching milestone 45, with no realistic shot of reaching milestone 47. And we finally started showing signs of running out of gas in the second half of yesterday. We're still opening crystals at a surprisingly high rate for the last day, but overall day 13 was the lowest scoring day by a significant amount.
At this point, the final question remaining is: 1k Titan shards or 2k. We're almost certainly going to reach milestone 44, but it would take a last day push stronger than yesterday to reach milestone 45.
So apparently I was wrong and there were more stretch milestones that were automatically triggered by us reaching milestone 44. So if anyone has any rich friends that would like to buy about 2.5 million more SBCs, maybe give them a ping.
Weird for Kabam to add the milestones with so little time left. Hopefully there’s a point injection coming, but they’ve left it stupidly late if so. The new milestones are baffling really as there’s no hope of getting them. Would like an explanation for why they’re there.
What if they extend the event by 1 day and then give us a code for some SBC's on tonights stream. Would help us reach the new stretch goals and be a nice way for them help us reach more points.

It was an automatic feature built into the design of the event where if we reached certain milestones the event would add another set of ten to extend the runway to make sure we never ran out of milestones. Unfortunately, it did not occur to anyone to consider what would happen if we happened to reach a trigger milestone with only hours left in the event.
Also, we did just barely reach milestone 45 before the end of the event, but if you did not claim it before the event ended it is possible you might not be able to claim it now. Kabam is aware of this and currently working on a fix that should allow anyone who did not claim those last few milestones to be able to claim them.
There will probably be one final wrap up post for the event as usual, probably in a new separate wrap up thread.
