Professional Arena Grinders..help me please. What's your best strategy for grinding for units?

TerminatrixTerminatrix Member Posts: 3,471 ★★★★★
Let me start by saying Arenas is one of my least favorite areas of the game. It's too boring and monotonous for me. But since I'm considering spending less money on the game, and there's very few ways to get units, I'm going to attempt it again. I've done a few runs before when I first started playing. Then again maybe 2 yrs later for a specific champ, and just to see how far I could go before my mind caved in and I crapped out.

I didn't go very far. 😅

Since I've been out of this loop for a while, what is the best, most efficient strategy to grind for these units and BC's?

How successful have you been?

Thank you 🙂

repeat the same actions over and over.

other tips include : use weak champs to build multiplier, then use strong champs .
I like to not claim rewards until my session is done, same with opening arena crystals.
I feel like quantity over quality is better in the arena crystal case, but the 2k ones, as many as you can, and pop. Once got like 500 from 15. The more expensive ones have more units, but you’ll find that you’ll only get units every one in 7 or so, and 5x7 is 35, so it’ll cost 350,000 for 7 of the thronebreaker ones.

These are my personal tips, and how I make the grind ever so slightly faster.

oh and run suicides, nothing to lose and makes the fight again, ever so slightly faster

Use 7* champions at 3X multiplier, gives the most points
After that use 6* rank 4 and above

Use 4* rank 5 champions for 4* arena, ascended not necessary since I can finish 3 fights within a min, there's no way for me to finish using all my 4* champions before they recover again within 2 hours

Use the boosts that are going to expire to finish the fights faster and to receive more points

I don't really grind the arenas, only played like 50k matches over 9 years

    - don't use your 7*s and 6r5s until 3x multiplier (i use 5r5s until 3x)
    - i have a developed roster and when doing non-champ grinds i use only 7*s for the featured 6* arena and 6r5s for the 6* basic)
    - start ranking lot of hard hitting 4*s for the 4* arena and eventually only use max rank 4*s
    - hit the catalyst arenas for 30 relatively easy units in the milestones

just multitasking. I barely look at my phone during arena grind. Also, suicides preferred, without it, the grind is so painful.

For various reasons, I actually like arena especially in the current iteration. What I would add is to spread out your runs over the 3 days to avoid burnt out by the repetition which can get very mentally exhausting

Since I've been out of this loop for a while, what is the best, most efficient strategy to grind for these units and BC's?

The most efficient strategy depends on the size of your roster and how much time you have to spend. For example, this is what I do:

Cycle 7* champs through the featured until I hit 12m.
Cycle 6* and 7* champs through the basic until I hit 4m.
Cycle my 4* 5/50 through trials until I hit all the milestones (4.4m) or run out of time.

My roster is big enough that I’m very close to being able to get to 12m in one cycle (I have 41 rounds of 7* champs). So this means I do one round of 7s, then finish up the featured and move to the basic and finish that in one cycle (usually mid 30s of rounds). Then I do as many 4s as I have time for: 4.4m if I can, whatever if I am too busy.

This is pretty efficient because I am getting all the featured and basic milestones (which are the easiest to get in general) and then going after as many of the trials milestones as possible. In theory all the milestones are doable in less than 200 rounds. I used to do them all, these days I often do not do all the trials.

Smaller roster or less time would dictate doing different things to maximize your return from the arenas. For example, all milestones escalate in points required. If you’re getting them all anyway this does not matter. But if you were a very light grinder, it could be more efficient to do all the lower milestones across all three arenas rather than all of one before moving to the next. In fact, if you aren’t doing all the milestones in all the arenas I recommend doing the first two or three in every arena at least (first two in trials, first three in the others) because those are easy to get and offer best return on time investment.

The general rule though, is this: if you want units, always grind for milestones if they still exist, before grinding more rounds in an arena for which you’ve already exhausted all the milestones.

I have a question. When I put my strong champs I keep getting kang's or thanos' team. Should I be mixing and matching with lower rated champs to avoid this?

I can do somewhere around 10m in a round in the featured but I get bored well before that most times. My usual arena run looks like this:

    AM Day one:
    6r3 until 3x
    7* from top down
6* from top down until I run out of R4, I just take the next 3 champs per round with the 7* and 6*, no filters or anything like that.

    PM day one:
Finish the 12m using only 7*
5r5 in the basic until 3x
6* from top down until I run out of R4, basic

    AM day two
Entire roster through the basic until 4m.

Cannot bring myself to do the 4* arena despite it probably holding the most units per arena.

No suicides, waste a boost occasionally when I remember.

Those are rookie numbers, gotta pump those numbers up

Don’t overthink it, I run r3 6 stars for first 5 matches and then at 5 streak, I start from the top down until I run out of 7*s and start over.

4stars I just straight away start with the highest rated even at 1.0x multiplier. I have almost 100 r5 4*s, so it doesn’t make a difference, I play to 30 streak and come back later do the same thing

I hardly ever miss a milestone on the main arenas. Arena is the best mode

    1. Make a playlist of music that you enjoy, something that can serve as a sdtrk for your daily grind.

    2. Make a Suicides mastery build for maximum points, also using arena boosts

    3. Take breaks in between hitting milestones for your sanity.

    4. Set a reasonable goal for yourself with amount of units and attach it to a event like 15K by the Deadpoolies/ Spring Event

    5. Save battle chip opening for the Big Events that way you always have a stash you can pull from when you need to, and it can also help if you get stuck in content and need resources in a pinch. The cheapest Arena crystals are the most consistent with giving units.

    6. Always remember to pace yourself, burnout is real.

Never understood why holding battlechips was useful and im a mad hoarder.

it's a good saving strategy because for me it's less tempting to waste units on offers if you have to convert battlechips first as opposed to a simple click with units. gives you more time to think.

I filtered to just 7* sort by weakest first and run them up to streak of 7, then clear filters and run my top teams. Becuase I have over 100 7* and only grind for an hour at a time I've unlikely to clear out my roster because I've used 21 of them to get things running and it's gonna give you more points than most other starting strategies.

Edit: oh and pop a ton of greater arena boosts, feed them to your 3 and 4* to get to a quick and easy mil in that arena. You earn most boosts than you use on the way

Last month I got caught out by the 3000 unit dud offer after finishing eq. I will keep the cavs as a constant reminder not to randomly click screens so you might be onto something.

On this topic, what kind of win streak would I be looking at to reach milestone 20 in the Summoner Trials?

Smashing out the basic and featured arena’s milestones doesn’t take too long, but the Summoner Trials seems like a bit of a slog with 4* champs (and 4* boosts not readily available.)
