EoP Path 2 (Science/Tech)

TotemCorruptionTotemCorruption Member Posts: 2,863 ★★★★★
Ok, I started my second EoP run and thought I'd post a little about it as I go, just in case it helps anyone who hasn't done it yet and is apprehensive about it. Because I'm neither skilled nor experienced, so hopefully that encourages others to try it too.

The only fight I've done previously on this path is Northstar from the AoA Gauntlet; I wasn't around for the other ones.

The main global node here is Death by Debuffs. You only do damage by placing a debuff on the opponent.
It's not necessary, but I activated the Resonate mastery to get that extra weakness debuff, especially in case I need to use Spider-Punk for any fights on the path (he's not very debuff heavy). Otherwise Punk is here just for Ares, because he made that fight pretty easy my first time: https://forums.playcontestofchampions.com/en/discussion/390274/they-didnt-punk-proof-ares#latest

I just did the first two fights tonight; will continue with the rest later.

But here it is: First, Nebula. This was an easy solo, despite getting hit a bunch.
Basically, she switches back and forth between unblockable and applying shock when hit into block.
She also has autoblock if you have less than 6 buffs active I think...

Sentry makes it easy; I just stayed in the yellow form the whole fight which allowed me to maintain enough buffs to not worry about her autoblock. And just used SP3 for healing as necessary.
It doesn't really seem necessary to go through his forms and ramp him up for this quest because you're not doing regular damage anyway. The only benefit would be to unlock the M-Heavy stun chain, but that seems like a lot of extra work for not much benefit.

The only other thing I realize now I forgot to do was to slow down my combos, because there is a 1 second cooldown on the death by debuffs node. So the slower you combo, the more debuff damage you can inflict. I'll try to remember that on the subsequent fights.

    Fight 2: Northstar.
This was a pretty easy fight as well. Should've gotten a solo with Photon, but I ate a fat SP2 that killed me right at the end. Definitely easier to just bait the SP1s.
Photon is great because she can bypass his untouchable after he throws his specials, either by doing MM or doing full combos if in Light mode.
Only other note is to try to not get cornered. Keep your SP3 handy in case you do, and use that to break free if needed.

    Ok, fights 3 & 4.

Destroyer: this was an easy one. Used Sentry, stayed in yellow form and spammed wither debuffs and a couple of SP3s to regain health. Just bait and dex his SP1. Don't try intercepting; if he's under a bar of power, bait a heavy, or just dance around until he fills a bar of power naturally.
Also, watch out for cramps; my left wrist was a little sore from 6 minutes of dexing; should've paused and taken a break in the middle. But I guess this is the price we pay for being gladiators.

Photon: I do not like these types of gimmicky nodes. You get nonstop power gain and if you reach SP3 or zero power you die. If you throw a special, a timer goes off, and if you throw another special, you die.
If you hit into her block with a light attack, you gain a short petrify that reverses your power gain.
It's basically Spin the Plates. Anyway, died like 3 times out of sheer power management incompetence; if that happens to you as well, make sure to only use Level 1 revives, as there is no point in going in with a lot of health; if you mess up, you're going to die, whether you're at 100% health or 20% health.

Thanks for heads up as this was my next path as well. I don't have 7 star photon or sentry and really don't want to rank 6 stars one tbh.

I am going to bring HTD, Silk and D-Hulk.

No worries, glad to hear it's useful in some small way. Good luck with your team!

Thanks mate and yes it helps. Good work

Are you planning to do write up for other paths as well? Imo you should do it. That will be helpful to many including me as due to real life and work I usually do Everest content on weekends

Ok, I couldn't get to sleep and didn't feel like doing other things, so knocked out the next two fights instead.

#5 Adam Warlock: This was actually my first time ever fighting Adam in any format, or at least, I don't recall fighting him before.
Most important node is: you need at least 3 buffs. And you have to use a special or a heavy after his specials or you will pretty much die.
I died a few times in the beginning just trying to get a feel for the fight, but then got into a groove and did most of the damage in one go before dying near the end.
Mostly baited and dexed and punished the SP1. The SP2 is ok, but if you're using Sentry like me, be careful because his two-hit heavy has a pause in between that's perfect for Adam to exploit as he comes out of his pod all refreshed and uses that half-second of invincibility to greedily steal a revive from you and pad his commission quota for Kabam.

#6 Aegon: this is the worst fight in EoP according to many. I tried to watch a stream to pick up some lessons but after seeing the content creator die like 20 times in two minutes I said whatever, let's just do it.
I don't even remember the nodes that well, but basically you have to land a heavies and intercepts. If he hits into your block you will just die most of the time. He also goes unstoppable and unblockable.
I didn't bring Spider-Punk for this fight specifically, but I was glad to have him because, as with Ares, he creates openings that other champs cannot. No need to block to land heavies, no need to worry about missing an intercept.

No solo with Punk but Sentry was able to close it out smoothly.

Fighting Ares before breakfast is not a fun way to start one's morning.
Anyway, used Punk again, and I'm 2/6 of the way to my first R4.
P99 was pretty stoked to unlock his signature ability, but I don't have the heart to tell him that none of those Tech mats are going to him. He actually needs to clear out his locker, if anything...

Ok, finished another path tonight, same as last one but via the Cosmic/Skill gate.
No need to go through all the fights again since they're the same, and Knull with Odin prefights is a very well-known strategy for this path.

I used Elsa on a couple of fights, all of Destroyer and for parts of Photon/Aegon.
But really just brought her for Ares. She has a super high crit rating, and it goes even higher when she's fighting on the final node of a quest. She also has an evade which helps create extra openings.

The skill crystal was a dud, just extra sigs on Attuma, but at least it was for a champ I'm planning on ranking up soon.

Overall, 50% (3/6 paths) of the way done, and about 40% through my revive stash. At this point, boredom and wrist pain is more of an issue than anything else, but hopefully I can get that R4 soon.
