Hardcore ideas?

I’ve gotten two accounts to thronebreaker, one paid and one free to play. I want to start another account, but I like the idea of a hardcore challenge to make it more difficult. I just don’t have many ideas. I’m curious what you guys might have in mind. I’m not looking for anything time sensitive like “complete this milestone by this amount of time”

I'm always curious why people start new accounts if they haven't reached the end. Can you explain to me?

I recently started a new account where I'm only using 5 stars until I have to rank for Paragon. I started it before they changed the Act 5 rewards to be less about 5 stars, so the challenge has gotten a bit harder. That said, it's been a whole lot of fun to play the game like it was before 7 and 6 stars were the go to.

Another idea is true Hardcore mode, like in WoW. If you champ dies, you can never revive or use them again. See how far you can go with that

New account challenge but you can only use a specific class or the current saga pool?

Pretty useful champs there, you’d have to take 2* scarlet witch from the first crystal selector, and you can only pretty much use her until you get to act 1 that has the 2* colossus, then you can fully explore that quest to get a 3* from there you can pretty much continue but only using the saga champions

There are two separate new account challenges going on right now. One are people trying to get to Valiant without opening any crystals. No crystals at all, no champion crystals, no rank up crystals, no gold crystals. Surprisingly, the people attempting this have actually gotten pretty far.

The other one is a Nuzlock challenge that was started but is on a brief hiatus by our resident speed demon Cantona, who was attempting a Nuzlock MCOC challenge. As far as I am aware, that means (among other things) if he ever dies with a champion, that champion cannot be used ever again. That means no revives, and if you die you cannot play that champion any more either.

Neither of these challenges is time limited, although a Nuzlock perma-death challenge presumes at least trying to go as fast as possible, since if you take ten years to do it, you’ll eventually just destroy all the content with champions far stronger than the content contains.

I've done it a couple of times briefly and I think the main draw for me was not only playing champs I hadn't before, but having them be a significant part of the journey in a sentimental sense, and pushing them through nodes and fights that I might not otherwise think they can take/that I usually have better answers for. Definitely improved me as a player.

Progression is fast, it's addicting, any new tier of crystal can open up fights for you. By contrast, progression at the top of the game is in tougher content, smaller amounts of relevant rewards being further and fewer between - I genuinely don't think I've been excited by an opening on my Valiant account since banquet.

... May have been unintentionally convincing myself to start another one here 😂

I don't know how realistic or even exciting this is as a concept, but recently I enjoyed the idea of a Trophy account with the top champs being a 7, 6, 5 and a 4* champ, in that order.

The challenge here being... The 7* would have to go to R3, the 6* likely couldn't be maxed out in case it's prestige exceeded that of the 7*, you couldn't naturally try to dupe the 7* because the PI from a new 7* champ would exceed that of the 5* and the 4*, and wipe them from your profile.
Because of this the 7* champ that went to R3 would have to be the first champ you pulled regardless of how good or bad they were.

In theory you could open multiple 6*'s because their PI should be less than a 4* ascended champ. You'd only be able to rank one of them up, but you could have as many 6* rank 1's as you want as long as they don't exceed the prestige of your 4*, etc...

This one might legitimately be easier if you take advantage of promotions and try to play less of the actual game, haha.

See how far you can get with no masteries...or maybe you can only use 1 of the three trees. Another idea could be to only use a certain team for your run (i.e. Avengers, Fantastic 4, Thunderbolts, etc.).

That's a cool idea, the team one.

I wish there were more norse themed champs!
