Is it just me, or is the beta not fun?

Let me preface my remarks by saying I really enjoy story content - probably my favorite mode of the game. I’ve participated in all of the betas, and generally enjoyed them. Of course there is always a path or two that are overtuned and not fun, or a couple of defenders that are really not a good call given the nodes, but that’s the point of the beta. You try them out and let Kabam know, and generally I’ve seen that they address the particularly bad combos.

I’m also not expecting everything to be easy. I’ve done Epoch, explored Necro, did the Carina’s Necro challenges, etc. So, I’m not the best player but I know how to play.

So, was looking forward to spending a few hours in the beta today and wow - I really didn’t enjoy it. Seriously considering not doing any more of it. I’ve done 2 1/2 runs now, and found the node and champ combinations to be… excruciating. The Bosses are similarly not fun.

If it is just me and everyone else is enjoying it, fine. Or, perhaps there are just some bad ones in 9.3.1 and 9.3.2 and it gets better later? Would appreciate hearing from some other folks who might be deeper in - does it get any better? I’m ok to tough it through a couple more un fun paths if 9.3.3 and beyond are more fun.

This isn’t a rewards thing - I’d probably do it for little to no rewards if it was fun (which it usually is).

    Compared to past betas, current one takes up more time and efforts. Have only done 2 paths in chapter 1 but already felt champions had too much health. I liked that the duration of beta has been extended to 2 weeks (one of my feedback from past beta, yay!). But I am not sure if I have time to finish given the slightly longer time I now need for each path, will still try to complete as much as possible and give feedback

    It was boring way to essay for me but that’s a roster thing. So can’t complain.

    I finished the whole thing, and it was pretty boring. I've always hated scourge nodes, and that hasn't changed, and the Mr. Negative boss in 9.3.4 is one of my least favorite fights in the game. I much preferred act 8 to act 9, and the health pools are too big in 9.3.

    They or not to big for 9.3 it you believe that’s. You’re rather hav them slap protection node one them to act 9 is meant to be done with 7 stars. If you’re roster isn’t big enough it might need to progress that’s again more opinions I miss act 6 pre nerf because honestly that’s make my head start and things outside the box one another lvl. But that’s was challenging aside from a few fights. Act 9 is the most boring.

    I agree. It’s over complex and requires way too much reading, champ counters and path counters.

    I attempted it for about 20 minutes. Max boosted everything and the lack of satisfying damage output reminded me why I didn’t complete the last one either. Way too boring and way too long to fight for 7 star shards.

    Kabam needs to lower the health pools in beta. What we need to test is the node combinations, not the threshold of carpal tunnel we can tolerate. I just shut it off and won’t go back in.

    The carpal tunnel is a valid argument and on a separate note is also why the units from arena aren't "free". Cough cough @DNA3000

    It's my first beta invite and I was thrilled but yeah... This ain't fun. Health pools are just way to big. Some of the bosses and no es just suck. Does anyone know how to access the Beta forum? Whenever I try to click on it in-game it says I don't have permission.

    It take me like 2 hours to 4 if I did it all in one session it straight up boring for me. But that’s because I have the counter for most things so it not that’s i don’t get people feel it to hige hp but it basically means for 7 stars i i use a maximum of 3 min one champion did take longer the domino. One. So i get people don’t like it.

    OK glad it is not just me. I think what appears to be going on is that there are very specific counters for the paths. I have a deep roster and likely have all of the options, so probably more of a case for the sheer number of nodes making it harder to figure out the optimal counter. I didn’t have too much of a problem figuring this out on 9.2 (with the exception of one path) but at least for the first few paths I’ve done so far I clearly haven’t made the right choices.

    Will take a fresh look in the coming days, but may be an indicator that 9.3 is over tuned.

    Ok so decided to jump back in and finish up the 9.1.1 path. Did the one that starts with Absorbing Man, the scourge path where you have to punish heavies to remove their regen, you lose half your health if you don’t use a special within a few seconds after knocking them down, and you get rooted periodically. Because - you know - absorbing man’s healing hasn’t caused issues in other competitive content in the past, so why not add more healing to him.

    And with that I’m done. Thanks to the rest of you who test out the beta. Hopefully it will be better in a few months when it comes out live!

    By that definition nothing is free, which is why its a semantic definition only used by obtuse internet debate jockeys.

    This is one thing that I’m struggling with currently in the game. I’m not sure what the solution is here, but things are just getting so wordy, it’s kind of getting to the point where I no longer read what anything does and just take my favorite champs and hope for the best.

    I have a fine roster, and the large health pools doesn't make the fights harder, just more boring and too long considering that there are 18 paths per chapter.

    The beta has been alright for me but I think because my roster has gotten deeper over time, content is a lot more manageable than it used to be

    I got the BETA invite, but forgot to accept it before the deadline. Based on y'all, it looks like trouble ahead 😂
