Translation problems

I already talked about this on old forum. for now we don't have access to him, since you closed it which was actually a bad idea. as the idea to create such uncomfortable new forum. but this is not the point.

We have a big issue - russian LOC team learned russian by watching "russian" characters in old movies.
I've got an answer that topic (on old forum http://community.kabam.com/forums/showthread.php?682030-Stupid-Hero-Name-Translations&p=3201599&viewfull=1#post3201599 - link, if you still have access) that Marvel provides to Kabam not only character rights on how he looks like, his origin, etc. and they are telling how they names are spelling on different languages.

Well, I've done some investigation...
1. Studio that translating marvel cartoons just getting material from TV companies that bought a rights to show these cartoons on their channels. And they just translating them.
2. the same situation with Publishing houses. They buying rights on comics, getting clean version of them (w/o text) and just putting text on it.
3. Also with the movies.
I had a personal conversation will all of these companies that doing translations. they never heard any word directly from Marvel about translating their characters names!

Marvel don't get involved when in comes to translating their characters in russian! Not even to check! They don't care!

so, assuming to this, I believe that Kabam just defending their LOC team, which actually works even worse than any other Kabam team.
first of all because of that fact that they don't know difference between Proper and Common nouns.
Common nouns don't translate into other language by their meaning! It's persons own name! They translating only by their sound, letter by letter!
When Misha comes to US, people won't call him Mike! Johann from Germany won't be John in US!
Why you don't call Las Vegas as The Meadows or Fertile Valleys? Even Google translator offers only one translation - letter to letter in russian.
We learned this thing in 3rd grade! It's the main thing that people who working in any job when they translating something must to know!

Yes, we have some character names that we used to hear by their meaning. In some cases
like Spider-man, we used to call him as spider man (by meaning), but people also know him as spiderman (by letter).
Iron man, iron fist - we used to head their names translated by meaning - that's not too bad.
Abomination - we don't call him as abomination, his name is translated by the meaning. That's not too bad. in russian his name translated by letter sound pretty stupid :-)
But no one ever called Batman as bat man - only letter by letter translation.

1. Quake. She is translated as Earthquake! is it a joke? Please, translate her by letters! Квейк - that's more suits to her. and don't sound such stupid.
2. Crossbones. He is translated as Skull and Bones. Is he a pirate? or LOC team member just wrote first things he got in mind when he saw him for the first time? Please, translate him as Кроссбоунс - letter by letter into russian!
3. Hulk Smash - one of the most popular phrases of comic book characters ever. you know how russian players read it? Hulk break! - more stupid translation i didn't even seen on AliExpress! Please thanslate it right! Халк крушить!
4. Carnage. In character window his name is translated by meaning. and he called as Demolition. But! in the quest, all characters in the plot calling him by carnage - by letter. but looks like this issue has been resolved.
5. Ant-man. we have an issue with his signature HUD during the fight. it translated as sliding (скользящий), but we don't use this word for this action. we more use this word to some objects ability, than describing the action. Вскользь, that meant that hit was "missed". in passing, glanced. don't actually know how to translate it corerctly into english.
6. Superior Iron Man. there was a time when he had two different names in the game - in character window and in arena. now he is known as Best - we more get used to this meaning of that word that has been listed in the game, than superior. more likely to read that he is Высший Железный Человек.
7. Also i can mention about Cable. in our language we have two meanings on Cable word. first means wire, second means male dog (but with little difference, sounds the same, letter O instead A, another accentuation, most of children don't even know phonetical difference due to lack of wisdom in their head). Anyway, we used to hear both of translations of his name, as it was with Spider-man. But to shut down these unfunny jokes - please wright his name as it translated by lettters - Кейбл.
8. And Rogue. her name is also we all know in both translations, but in her case sould be more accurate to use her by letter translation, not by meaning. because in our language this word, that means rogue - we don't usually use, so meaning of this word is not understandable for most people - so there is no sence to leave this translation (like it with ant-man or abomination). so Роуг - would be nice to see too.

For now these are the main pain-in-the-butt translations that makes me wanna cry.
So please, on the behalf of all russian community - CHANGE them! and buy at least some vocabularies for LOC team...

I have found answer from Kabam Miike about this problem:
    Hey Guys,

I had to have a talk with our Translation Team about this before I could provide any information. Most of these translated names are not translated by our team but are in fact provided by Marvel. Although many of our players and Marvel fans around the world that speak at least some English will know the Champion's English names, this is not the case for all of our players. In many cases, Marvel has officially translated names for their characters. For instance, the translation we used for "Phoenix" in Turkish isn't "Bird". "Bird" is "Kuş". The translation we used is "Anka Kuşu", the mythical "Simurgh/Phoenix".

Another example is Daredevil. Daredevil is dubbed using the Turkish word "Korkusuz" (Fearless) in the movie, but they used the English word "Daredevil" in the TV-Show. We had to choose one and went with the localized version.

Crossbones was a difficult one. Although "Crossbones" doesn't mean skull, it obviously refers the two crossed bones underneath the skull in the "death symbol". "Kurukafa" means skull, and that's as close as we could get to "Crossbones", because this is not a proper noun, but is a reference to an item used as a name.

So, I hope we shed some light on our process when we localize names. No matter which path we choose, we will have some players unhappy with our decision, but we want to minimize as much confusion as we can.

and that is not an answer. I'm very happy for turkish players, but we have little different language and different meaning of some words.

I remember that I leaved a comment on that thread too, about the PT translated names and that the champions should have the original names, and not translated ones.
And they still haven't fixed Falcon's passive ability ... It says "Skill champions" instead of "Science champions".
