Is alliance ranking broken?

We were in gold 1. After season 1, we took a little hiatus, ran a few wars with 2 groups, started back up with season 2, had a loss, and all of a sudden we're down to gold 3.....?

Is this normal? Or is something broken? I tried searching to no avail.

    Why should you be higher? Your finish in gold 1 doesn’t mean you will start there for season 2. The leaderboard resets

    This is normal. Everyone starts at zero at the beginning of the season. Your seasonal ranking is determined by the amount of points you earn in that season, starting from zero.
