For future reference for anyone in the US. You should still double check (always) but you can have an idea now.
I live in nyc and have android and being taxed now lol
Yea that was from Feb 2018, where I got the chart. It may be different now or NY might have different instances when they do or don't. I don't know lol I was just trying to give people an idea haha. Everyone should still check IMO. I don't like messing with anything that involves money without knowing what's happening.
It's unfortunate you had to be hit with it by surprise.. But look on the bright side.. You pay $106 for an Odin.. In the UK I pay £99.99 for an Odin..
That's the equivalent of $130
Exchange rates/ Shock taxes.. Everyone's hit one way or another..
If in US, then yes Tax is added on afterwards by the Google/Apple when final charge is made to your CC/account. Game listed amount is without tax.
At least, I think people on Google/Android are now being charged Tax (think a while back people said they were not, but now they said they are). Apple always has (in US)
FYI, difference between US and a lot of other countries is that in game amount listed already includes those countries tax in it.
That's not always true in America its taxed by the state not the federal. I have no tax on apple or google purchases in my area.
Sorry for that, yep for States that do not have any Sales Tax on those type of transactions then there would not be (not too many of them I don't think).
With taxes or not u guys in the US buy cheaper. At Europe an Odin costs 140$ more or less so u would better avoid any discussions on that. It’s lame the company sells the same product at different pricing through regions. Just not right for competitive reasons.
Wonder if the states follow this based on whether the company (Apple or Google) has a physical presence in the state. That is how a lot of online retailers tax or not.
So since most states have an Apple Store in a mall, their online platform is forced to collect State Sales Tax. For Google (like Amazon for a long time, until they started having locations and WholeFoods now) maybe they are not required to collect tax if no physical presence.
But, FYI, many states Tax Codes still would require you to include that “uncollected” Sales Tax on your State Income Tax Form during Tax Season (really bogus tax system, but some states have that). It is really the “honor system” that you are supposed to report it yourself, lol. Where I am it is called a “USE TAX”.

Maybe this helps clarify your point about pricing (not tax).
I have never been taxed? I use a $30 card for a $29.99 purchase and always have a penny left. On iOS and Android and have used both the Apple store and google play with same results. Live in calif
Depends on where you live. Kabam doesn't make those determinations.
I live in the US so do you know of they have tax?
I live in the US , California, I have never been taxed on my in game purchases. Not just this game but other things in the app store like music or movies
Bringing this thread back up as it seems to have hit another wave of people. Tax is not including in basic purchases as stated. Daily cards, Sig stones, Crystal shards and Odins to below no longer have truth to their face value. Many people are probably use to the taxes by now but I was taken aback when I checked my history to see that on 4/12/2019 had no taxes tied to a sig stone deal that was offered but on 5/13/2019 my 4.99 wasn't 4.99 but was 5.35 due to taxes
just wanting this to be brought up top and give people a heads up.... Careful what you buy as you pay a little extra $$$ now.... or have been? Guess it depends.
Apple’s charges doesn’t show the tax together with the purchase. There’ll be a separate line in the receipt following the purchase that indicates the tax.
So the developer ie Kabam has also placed the tax on units as @Kabam Lyra quoted in her message so jus5 another way to get extra bucks tbh A taxes are needed in some kind of form but if taxes are added then the true value should be made clearer before purchases are made so if Odin A’s is says $99 it should say the total amount plus tax for those buying
There is different taxes rates across the world. Thats why its charged after the fact. Kabam has ZERO control of taxes charged. 100% of taxes relies on the country or state the items are being bought in.
The majority of the US pays taxes on digital content now because if our idiot president.

Be thankful it hasn't caught up to you yet if it hasn't been getting applied

That’s incorrect. Apple never charged sales tax.
Its dependent on the state you live in. I have been charged tax on all apple purchases for the past 4 years in my state.
