Playing devil's advocate here but AW bosses are supposed to be extremely hard and originally not able to 1-shot. They are bosses for a reason. It is supposed to be a team effort to beat them. I also assume there will be some new champs coming out soon that will also counter Thing more actively. It's how the company makes money. They make you get new flashy champs to counter the previously OP champs that people rushed to get previously. Moving the "goalposts" or meta is the name of the game and the reason people can play this game for 2+ years and still strive to get better. Most games you'd have beaten and quit playing already, but they've designed this game to be every changing.
You need to bring a good counter, or have another ally member take it, thing bosses are easy for me woth omega, just like iw bosses are easy with nick and champion bosses are easy with sym, champ choice is the main thing
All valid points. However, if bosses are meant to be a team effort, then one shouldn't be penalized for timing out with the penalty to attack bonus being the same as any other champ. As for the moving goal posts, it's true that power creep is inevitable in these kinds of games, but there is a line to how big the power wall should get. Whatever the developers intended, the case is that players who fight for it are accustomed to being able to win a boss fight solo. It's become the norm and a game designer should adapt to that especially if it is a design emergence people enjoy.
Every other meta defining champ had clear weaknesses that were not limited to a small handful of champs. Medusa was vulnerable to true stike, ability accuracy reduction, damage over time, and buff negation. IMIW was also weak to true strike and poison not to mention an easy fight to exploit once you got the hang of it. Korg was weak to energy attacks, poisoning, and without rock armor a good special could hit pretty hard. Domino was a nightmare at first but people learned to fight her and now she's just tough fight, but not meta defining.
All of these cases seemed rough, but it was easy to conceive of counters and implement them. With Thing, it doesn't matter how much i learn from fighting him, doesn't matter how much i exploit his AI, he just has to exist on a node and get a free win the majority of the time. Champ choice being key to your strategy is nothing new, but the list for Thing is so small and hard to even be sure of that I feel a concession should be made.
And all this could be mitigated by either changing how attack bonus works for the boss or just giving us an extra 30 seconds
