This is an investigation into the upcoming (or is it) also mercs for gold event, feel free to voice opinions below!
Evidence/clues
We first heard of the event in a post about the barons war event in which kabam Miike said “ There are rumors that deep within this world there is one known for his strength, power, beauty... Find and release him later this month and he may reward you!”
Then we received the sticky key on the 1st of April
And now 1* dead pool is ‘available’
These are all we have to go on but judging by the humorous tone of the event and the mention of the mercs we can all m point a finger to Deadpool (not to mention the 1*)
Now in the title it literally says gold so we can say that gold is in a way involved.
The sticky key is still a mystery but it expires on the 31st and the event description says “later this month” so we have a connection there.
It also says “Find and release him”, how do you release somebody, with a KEY! Now it’s very possible we don’t have to fight deadpool, but somebody else who is keeping him captive. Who loves to capture and control people, MODOK of course! However deadpool is a mutant, so mr Sinsister is not ruled out. We still haven’t lost our buff randomisers from sinister labs in 2019 but I doubt they are connected.
Finally it says “may reward you”, giving a purpose to the 1*, it could be that deadpool is reluctant to pay and only gives a 1* with some gold.
Using all of these clues I think the story will go as so...
Deadpool is captured by somebody (likely MODOK or Sinister)
The mercs, Domino, Massacre, Gwenppol and maybe Goldpool if we’re lucky (return of pools gold crystals?!?!) go to rescue him
Use the sticky key to get deadpool out (along with some fighting) and we are reluctantly paid by deadpool in the form of himself as a 1* (trophy collecting time) some gold and hopefully a profile pic (judging by the sort of event it is)

as @Etjama said, knowing kabam, it is most likely to be a single goldpool crystal though
M.O.D.O.K isn’t likely to have captured/imprison Deadpool.
Mojo on the other hand is a more likely candidate. As he has been obsessed with using Mutants for his convoluted plans at gaining viewership ratings.
That gives us 3 suspects, let’s see if any are correct
