Possible Life Transfer Bug

I was 100% exploring 5.1.x and the levels I was doing had Life Transfer on every node.

I am pretty sure, but not completely sure, that if I end the match with a Special 3 then my champ does NOT get the corresponding Health increase to match the damage done by the Special 3, to take into the next match.

I just did that quest, didn't experience it

So if you ended on a special 3 then when you started another fight with the same champion, the champion's health at the start of the next fight was higher than before the Special 3 started?

I was at 70% fired off an sp3 next fight I was at 70%

    This is how it works

Why? If I do a Special 3 in the middle of a Life Transfer match then surely I should get health from it, per the Life Transfer rules. Similarly, if I do a Special 3 at the end of a match that leaves 1% on the enemy, I should get health from it. Similarly, if I do a Special 3 at the end of the match that KOs the enemy then I should get health from it - presumably not the complete amount as the full Special 3 damage was not done but rather only enough damage to get the enemy to 0, but still, some health. It's only fair and in accordance with Life Transfer description.

iirc, kill shots never credited you on life transfer, same situation as the adrenaline mechanic for 6*

Could be the case @Uncle_Fatty_247 , I never paid attention before.

Soooo... don't end the match on any special move? Seems strange - it might historically be what happened, but is it what should happen?

    Or hope Kabam reconsider.

@Uncle_Fatty_247 now I think about it, there were a number strange things back in the day. I mean, used to be that IIRC Special 3s never gave the enemy power, and that's not the case any more. So things can change...

The life tranfer regen happens after the damage is done. But if the fight is over then you cant gain any health back
  • JackDiamondJackDiamond Member Posts: 133
Er... @Voltolos which happens first, the damage is done or the fight ends?

Damage first, then fight ends, right?

So logically if the Life Transfer gives me life at the same time as the damage is done ('The Opponent suffers a permanent Degeneration effect losing 2% of their Max Health per second, but Lifestealing 125% of their Damage done. The Lifesteal percentage is affected by Class Relationships.') then the life should be stolen before the fight ends.

Or at the least, if the Special 3 doesn't do all the damage in one move (for example it's a beam that does damage over several seconds) then all the damage except the very last one that does the KO should be lifestolen, in the same way that the other specials do. Why should Special 3 be different than Special 2 or 1? They stopped that a while back, in terms of power gain etc., so why not this?

Look, I get that this is possibly how it was. And I know you can say this is how it is. But is it logical or right or desirable that it is how it will be in the future? Or does it make better sense if it is changed?

Actually there's a slight delay between damage done and damage regenerated.

    After few frames.

When either of the champs reach 0 health all the calculation are stopped so no champ lose extra health due to a DoT effect.

During sp3 everything is paused. No regen, no degen, all the effect timers are paused.
The only thing that happens during sp3 is taking damage from sp3 ONLY and no other source(s).

Using this logic, you should take recoil dmg when a special is used for the kill shot. No thanks!

Thanks @Djin , that's a very thoughtful and informative set of posts, I appreciate it! And now I've learned something.

    So:
    1) Health gained has a very brief delay after the damage
    2) Nothing happens in SP3 except damage from SP3.

Still, it seems to me it's debatable whether the health should kick in if they die mid SP3.

I mean, damage is happening, so reasonably there should be health restored, even with that short delay. Personally I'd say it's fair for it to happen invisibly at the end of the Special 3, but that's because I think it's only fair that if damage can happen in the SP3 and be carried on to the next match then similarly the health restoration should be able to happen in the SP3 and be carried forward.

And if the SP3 completed before KO then various effects would kick in on some kind of brief timeframe (the defender would get power, and additional damage would occur - the latter eg when people collapse and die immediately AFTER the SP3 animation ends, and I wonder in that situation whether the health is gained before they collapse and die, another 'edge case').

Well, I guess it's up to Kabam to decide what is right.

Thanks again for your helpful post.
